The Man From Waco
orcd.co/themanfromwaco
A doomed romance, a crime of passion, an outlaw on the run: Charley Crockett’s The Man From Waco takes all the drama and danger of a timeless Western and subtly tilts the lens, arriving as a gloriously sprawling odyssey through the wilderness of the human heart. A richly drawn world populated by drifters and dreamers and hopelessly damaged souls. The album takes place in landscapes as far-flung as the backwoods of Louisiana and the billboard-lined streets of Hollywood, the gleaming New Mexico desert, and the muddy rivers of Texas. Set to his signature Gulf & Western sound, Crockett’s storytelling ultimately casts an intoxicating spell while imbuing every moment with elemental truth.

Charley! My fiance & I have fallen in love with your music!!! I can't believe I missed the shot to see you in Traverse City- I havnt had to listen to an artist on repeat like this in a long time. Your country western, New Orleans, even some Appalachia sounds come together in the perfect kind of way. Your song writing is CLASSIC! I gotta say, that Tiny Desk you did kind of spoiled me, I love those renditions! -a big f'n fan

You know how the first bite of chocolate is so good, savory and gives you hope-but then each piece after becomes less and less fulfilling? Charley's music is like chocolate that never loses it's magic. Each word, lyric, song, album is each in its own right... Perfection.

Best album you've released, Charley! Overall best sound you've ever had, and the best you've ever been lyrically. The Man from Waco is my new all-time favorite of yours. "Time of the Cottonwood Trees" is my favorite off this album. It all reminds me so much of the story telling Marty Robbins gave us! It's awesome to have my own modern Robbins to raise my kids on. Would love to see a music video done to some of these songs!

As a guy who's lived in northeast cities most of his life, who's never been a "country" music fan, I dig Charley so much. Great album. His range of sound is terrific. That groovy Motown vibe on I'm Just a Clown, that jazzy almost "samba" style on Trinity River, the mariachi-type trumpet on Man from Waco... . not what one expects from modern "country music." And there's the traditional twangy guitar I didn't know I liked. He can paint such vivid pictures with simple, honest storytelling and geographic references. He's made me realize I'm definitely a fan of his "Gulf and Western". How I Got to Memphis was my favorite prior to this album, but so many tracks here are giving it competition. Thank you Charley!
@DesignRhythm
@DesignRhythm Жыл бұрын
Yep, you nailed it my friend. The album is incredibly diverse and takes you on an amazing musical journey. I hear all kinds of references to classics just like mentioned.. I have to say those mariachi horns are my favorite part. That is what I remember most about his live show. They just place me in south texas centuries ago.. Funny growing up in Chicago I never gave country / western, etc. any kind of a chance - it wasn't til I worked on house way out in the high desert of Nevada with tumbleweeds rolling by and wild mustangs, rattlesnakes, etc. that's when the music hit me in that special way. Now I can't get enough. Feel bad for all the people who only listen to the hip hop computer generated crap these days. But there I go yelling at the clouds again. Rock on.

hi there ! just a few words from a 46 y o man from France to congratulate you Charley ! i've never been a true fan of country music but since i heard you , my musical world is upside down ! The first tune i heard was" Paint it blue" and it stayed on my mind for weeks ! so i bought your album twice (1 for my father ) and i played it so often , quite everytime . When my ears started to bleed I listened to "The man from Waco " and it was the same feeling of happiness! these 2 albums are true masterpieces , thumbs up for the all band ! Even my son , wich is 13 , thinks you're the best artist/songwriter ever ! My favourite tunes of the moment are "Cottonwood trees" and "July Jackson" they are so soothing ! but every other song is a gem ; keep making such good music , be sure we'll support you all along !
