FINALLY! Someone who actually likes the Tim Burton version and acknowledges that it's not a remake! Also, is it weird that when you made the Candyman hero joke, my first thought was "Candyman? The Tony Todd horror movie based on a Clive Barker story"?

It annoys me SO much. Even Nostalgia Critic called it a remake and reviewed it by comparing the two films. 😤

So did I. The Tim Burton film stayed very close to the book, besides the Wonka dentist B-plot. Also I've not seen that movie. But it doesn't sound very happy. 😂

@@idonthaveanose Yeah the subplot was unneeded. Then again, who can say no to Christopher Lee? Candyman was about a woman studying an urban legend about a spirit who comes back when you say Candyman 5 times in a mirror and kills with a hook. So yeah, not exactly a happy flick.
@idonthaveanose5 жыл бұрын
I felt the subplot kinda ruined Wonka's mysterious presence. I felt they were trying to make him more 'human' but it fell a bit flat for me. Still, it's a small issue with an otherwise solid movie, for me. It sounds interesting. Proper family film, then? 😂

I have so many feelings. This was one of the first video games I ever played, on my first console, the PS2. That console was my "favourite toy". I wasn't into sports or cards or other stuff at all, only my vidya and the worlds those games took me to. Nonetheless, some games I found too hard, and this was one of them. Now, I realise, seeing through any rose tinted glasses I may have been ignoring, such games were not "too hard"... they were shit

Whenever I hear the name, "They Candyman," I still can't help but think of the horror character. I'm pretty sure Mr. Wonka doesn't start out his introductions with the quote, "I'll split you groin to gullet." Just imagine what a different movie this would be if it really did involve the horror character instead of Willie Wonka. I would be curious enough to see it lol

Back in 2005, I had a choice between getting this or Lego Star Wars. My adoration of the movie may have swayed me. 😆 I actually like the core concept of the gameplay, i.e. ordering little helpers to do one thing while you use various abilities to fix things. Reminds me of Night Shift, a really old LucasArts game. Played this all the way through, but your review highlighted a lot of stuff I have no memory of, like the lamp-headed Oompa Loompas. I remember the cutscenes having that psuedo-Burton art style and button eyes, which felt very disparate from the bulgy, meth eyes. Reminds me of the style of a certain Irish animator, whose name escapes me. Also, thank you for reminding me of Boobah. Now I need to imbibe 3 litres of grog to forget it.
@idonthaveanose5 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, think you made the right choice? 😂 Agreed, I like the ideas of this game. I feel I was a bit harsh about the game but it just pales in comparison to loads of others I've covered imo. It's a shame. I really feel like the game was rushed. Mike Teavee is never seen, and yet Augustus Gloop is stuck in that pipe for 4 whole levels. 😂 There's only one oompa-loompa with a lantern, which is probably why you don't remember him. Oh and yes, Boohbah is the stuff of nightmares. They're more horrifying than Teletubbies.

Ah, that mixed feeling of joy and critical thinking of flaws at overall product. I understand what you mean. 😌 Right!? 🤣 So many reviews of that movie, it’s like a trend of that time or something Cx Oh, and especially that tunnel scene with Tuffy (or Nibbles), that was so crazy! Hey man, great job! It truly shows your productivity (and creative quality) and I can respect you for that c: Pardon for late reply ^^
@idonthaveanose5 жыл бұрын
People can get really angry if you give something a bad or mediocre review when they loved it. But seeing it from a critical standpoint is different. Yeah I remember that! Saberspark, Nostalgia Critic, quite a few had reviews of it. I've not seen the full movie but it looks like something I'd enjoy ironically. I love a bad movie, as long as it's entertaining. Which reminds me- the first video this year was gonna be a review of Cats (which actually wasn't as bad as I sorta hoped it would be tbh)- I recorded it all and edited more than half the video but then scrapped it. 😕 Thank you. 😊 And no problem!
@TwisterTH5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that is true. I especially seen that in some Caddicarus videos, when he acknowledge people’s love of the game/movie, but ironically knowing that being critically honest and fair might led to some people get.... ya know. Yeap! These names I recognize c: I haven’t seeing either! Like they said, it’s not a masterpiece, but it’s got something to enjoy. Oh, really?😯 That would actually cool, cuz I wanted to see it myself (but haven’t, yet :/ ), hoping that it would at least be some what badly enjoyable aka guilty pleasure, despite critic’s early reviews before release. And hey, if you ever decide to fully make that scrapped video, I would love to see it c: (right after the movie, haha) Because I like your thoughts on Toy Story 4 (also, they finally explain Bo Peep’s side of story, which is nice)
@idonthaveanose5 жыл бұрын
I like people to know that even if I give a bad score, sometimes I like the game a lot. Like, waaay back, I reviewed a Peter Pan game and I gave it a mediocre score, because it really is mediocre, but I spent hours playing it as a kid. Same for The Grinch- I never played that when I was little but I really enjoyed playing it for the review! I used to watch Nostalgia Critic and Caddicarus years ago but these days I rarely watch much quality KZbin. At least, not in the same vein as what I do. I've been really interested in watching videos on lost media lately for some reason. Like scenes removed from movies and shows that never saw the light of day. I totally lost confidence in the Cats review. It was more of an improvised 'discussion' than a review. It had some bits I liked in it but ultimately something inside me told me to ditch the idea. Though I REALLY wanna cover some movies soon. Even if my channel is supposedly a 'games' channel. 😛
