Great vid Jane. Glad about the funding. I hated the circus as a kid, but she who must be obeyed dragged me to the tower circus not so long ago. It was awesome. We go every time now. I missed Charlie as I first came to Blackpool in 2000. I'm happy that no animals are used now. Hope you are well. x

Indeed Jane - there is nothing like a laugh - it is the glue for families and communities. I heard much about Charlie Carolli when young but never saw his picture or heard him on the radio. I wonder if anyone made a bio-pic of him? He fully deserves one - over 4 decades there must be a wealth of stories about him and involving him. I imagine that he must have been an admirer of Heath Robinson ... many music hall acts used unusual musical instruments made of everyday items. I hope that the curation of the collection proceeds well and that there is room to display it effectively. Maybe the museum could have a 3D replica of the missing budgie made for the interactive item and maybe a perspex screen with the turning knob outside would prevent another budgie 'fledging'!

I was at Show Town ( Friday 4th ) Enjoyed the place very much. I don't live in Blackpool and was told my ticket allows access for 12 months, just have to give them the number on my ticket. Love'd the light show room.

Yeh I was in showtown the second week of September. I’ve kepted my ticket so that I can use again next year. I’ll probably do a couple of visits next year, so I have more time to take everything in.

Another great video Jane I grew up hearing about Charlie Cairoli but never saw him live. Looks a very interesting place for a future visit. Aside from this, i just want to say that I find all your videos sooo good down to earth n very informative. I don't live in Blackpool but have a caravan on the Fylde Coast n am over here a lot. Cleveleys n lytham also being close to me n among fav places of mine. I am loving learning all about the area and the reviews and tours around Blackpool help me realise how much better Blackpool is now and I'd not feel it as over facing coming alone for day trips around the town. The food reviews and insights into all the places you review are so valuable and are helping me feel more familiarised when i do come on day trips on the tram, car or bus which i usually do on my own. Thank you Fantastic news about the funding too. Well done on another great job - keep em coming😊

I’ve never been to Blackpool’s circus, but did go to the circus in my local seaside town of Great Yarmouth last night, for the Halloween Spooktaclar. Great that the history of the seaside circus is being kepted for future generations to see. So nice of the Caroli family to allow the showtown to have the bits of treasured family history. The risk of splitting it all up is more chances of things getting lost.

Visited Showtown when we were up in August and loved it, spent 3 hours in there and I think we literally laughed all the way round, we met Ringo too and a Blackpool landlady, so good.

Charlie was at the tower circus 39 years. The BBC Right Charlie was screened in 75/76 not the 60s. His official biography is available to purchase in the Showtown gift shop.

Fabulous collection FB groups are great this is very good Prob digitise a lot of home movies People can see interiors of demolished attractions V and a funding too they have done a very good job If the hotel doesn't happen they will take the space It's great for schools and lectures

So is this place closed until next year Jane? We are staying in Blackpool in November (turkey & tinsel) we’ve not visited showtown yet but will certainly look forward to a day of fun in there if it’s open xx
