This is why when I generally don’t hire kids out of college. Most of my interviews reveal that they need reprogramming. We don’t have time for that. Meanwhile I hired a kid years ago right out of high school through one of our employees and he's running one of my departments. I watched him for about six months and saw the determination in everything he did. I offered to pay for half of our trade school costs. He took it and he's now a big part of our family. If you don't have to go to college don't. Save your time and money. My folks make more than most college grads and are far happier.

What she is doing is, frankly, being extremely condescending. But she won't admit it. She starts out by asking if democracy is a core American value, only to admit a minute later that she knows, and is in favor of, representative government, which is not pure democracy. She never really comes right out and just explicitly states what her beef with the political right happens to me. That we have a problem with the state of modern education? Does she think that truth emanates from the university? Because that is a major foundational tenant of leftism, that truth emanates from the education system, so long as they are in charge of it, and set the mandates.

She also interrupted Charlie several times which is common in liberal intellectuals when debating. When they sense the other person starts making a good point to rebut their argument they interrupt and attempt to take over the conversation. They're too self involved to listen to an opposing viewpoint because they have sense of intellectual superiority. A confident conservative, on the other hand, will (usually) listen to the other point of view and then reply because they are confident in what they believe. A liberal is not confident....they're just right.

No. The word "capitalism" didn't exist yet. It was coined by early socialist thinkers in the 19th century and popularized by K. Marx to describe what he abhored. The founding fathers did certainly describe what Marxist would later refer to as capitalism, namely: individual liberty, property rights, limited government, and free commerce.

With time and advances in technology we may be able to become a democracy. Until people take the time to sort thru the necessary information to make an informed decision. Until then we have to put our trust in others, hence the republic form of government. BUT regardless of which form we use, it is our duty to do our own research and not to fully trust other people’s words. Because we have seen regular people, politicians, entertainers and others lie, twist and omit information they spew to the masses.

He is pointing out that the American republic as conceived by the Founding Fathers is by its very design, not democratic. This is because the founding fathers were educated and had seen how very wrong democracy had gone when it was tried in ancient Greece. Therefore by your analogy, when you are driving, the words you aren't speaking are not 'I am now driving', but 'I am now sailing'. Because you are driving a republic, not sailing a democracy. Not that I expect you to comprehend this, even after it's been explained.
