Nice video and meaningful song. Charlie was the greatest American Cowboy artist that ever came down the pike,... if you get the meaning.

I am from the San Joaquin, California, and I’ve gotten to see Russel’s art in Great Falls, Montana. If you haven’t already, you should go! Also check out the Lewis and Clark center (don’t remember what it’s called) in Great Falls. The Western art exhibit in the Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City is amazing too.

@@andrewp8284 Thank you my friend,... Next to Rembrandt & van Gogh, Russell is my favorite artist. The west could have almost have been forgotten if it weren't for Charlie. I have almost as many originals of his that I have of the two other artists that I had mentioned.

Bob Miller very nice-he was gifted, that’s for sure. I must say that it makes me proud that the Sons of the San Joaquin made this song about Russel. When I was younger Jack Hannah, one of the sons, used his distinctive voice to advertise a feed store on local radio, haha. They always sang a cowboy/western jingle...”they’re the friendliest store around, give ‘me a call they got it all, a place called Evan’s Feed...get along little dogies get along”. I suppose the Sons have helped keep the western heritage alive just like Russel.

@@andrewp8284 The Sons "covered" the song written by Ian Tyson. I like both versions but The Sons really do it best. By the way, they played the Carson City Cowboy Music and Poetry Festival in the mid-90's. Saw them twice. The I went to the Charles M. Russell Museum in Great Falls this August. I love his work.

Beautiful song by this group of cowboy singers. Just letting you know that it is perfectly alright with me for you using my picture of Kid Russell and the Black feet Indian Chief and his wife that Charlie is with there in the last year or so before he died. This was Chief Black Eagle and his wife that Russell lived with when living with the Blackfeet Indians and became his blood brother in the 1880's when his was just a young man and artists.

Remington traveled west made a few sketches and went back to New York and painted. Charlie Russel worked the ranches, lived with Natives, and lived the life. The cow hands in his day could look at one of his paintings and tell you who owned the horse.
