Charlie & Me give you an update on Quanns Motorhome Parking Aires Dungarvan Co Waterford

I'm Aaron and Charlie Brown is my chocolate brown cocker spaniel and together with my wife Deirdre we love camping in our HYMER 655 motorhome & we also have a converted ambulance called "The BeeBaw"

What you failed to take into consideration Charlie is that Quanns is not a designated Camping Site - yes, there are now 9 bays or 'Aires' and just because there are green areas doesn't mean they are for the use of campers. Quanns as like 'The Lookout' it is a residential area. Any campers vans parked or set up beside the sea wall in the 'car parking' spaces cause a nuisance, obstruction and in some cases danger to other road users & pedestrians apart from denying the 'lovely view' which you commented on - to the elderly occupants in the seven houses. Apart from 'hogging' the sea wall campervans regularly set up in the forecourt and car park of the Sports Centre' again denying 'residents' from the quiet peace and enjoyment of their years of retirement. A bank holiday coupled with good weather are fodder to these monster vehicles. On one weekend I counted - apart from the 9 Aires Bays - 20 vans parked every which way on pavements overhanging pavements and generally turning a scenic part of Dungarvan into the same eyesore as the Lookout. And as regards these 'Air Bays' they are often left empty while inconsiderate drivers park & camp where ever they take a mind to...yes, I am one of those residents!

OH I can tell your one of those residents by the description MONSTER vehicles in the comments .... NOT ALL motorhome / campervan drivers park as you describe. In this video we didn't fail to see anything we described Quanns as NOT A CAMPSITE even in the title we say AIRES. We just promote places to camp or stop over that's what we do and if Waterford CoCO went to the expense of putting in theses facilities for motorhomes/campervans Isn't it nice for us to promote them FREE. No one in Ireland is entitled to a view so we are NOT doing anyone an injustice by parking up in any scenic area. As for the amount of vans yes there is only 9 bays and yes I AGREE vans should NOT park on the grass areas or in undesignated areas. Im sure you will agree on this point that the revenue the vans bring to the area is a great benefit to any local communitie. Thanks for your comments & for watching the video stay safe

You make no mention of the fact where you were parked by the seawall is only fit for cars. Why? Even your vehicle overhangs the road, when reversed it will greatly overhang the narrow pathway. Of course, you could be like some of your inconsiderate campervan colleagues and park sidelong which would then take up three maybe four bays. Any van parked by the seawall totally disallows residents of the houses in the area from the view you give grand praise to! The new 'Airbays' are grand...when used! But, more often they are not! As the parking area by the sea, it is free as is the pavement opposite also the Sports Centre car park. Already wastewater and food are dumped on the green which is used by community groups & schools. The back of the sports centre has become a urinal. Also, there is a time limit on the Airbays of 48hours, whereas elsewhere they stay anything up to a week. Also, there is open ground beyond the bays whereas like the bays the vehicles would not be an annoying nuisance but this doesn't appear to be to the liking of the drivers it is easier to park In a considerate manner to other road users & residents. You mentioned The Lookout. There we have the same problem vans half on pavements & overhanging pathways so much that it is almost impossible to sit in comfort at the tables & chairs provided by the council. I have been verbally abused, threatened & called a paedophile for taking photos of said vans committing these highway offences. What is your opinion? Do all campervan drivers think they can park or camp where ever they like. Or do they just derive enjoyment out of totally ignoring the rules of the road and not giving a toss about the locals. And yes I am in dialogue with Dungarvan Officialdom. A resident of Quanns & Dungarvan.

Thanks for your opinion and comment on this video. You ask me "What is your opinion?" well I am of the same opinion as you on some points but remember SOME NOT ALL motorhome/campervan drivers have no consideration for any other road users or pedestrians, there is a camping etiquette or code lets call it than the majority of us stick to. But unfortunately the media like here or facebook or local & national radio and newspapers pick up on the VERY SMALL percentage that flout that code. I have seen vans park over 2 3 4 bays I have not done this. I have seen vans reverse up to a kerb and partly or totally block foot path but I don't . In fact when I say "I Don't" I am speaking for the majority of motorhome/ campervan owners. On the name calling you have received that's not right and I blame that on that persons upbringing, I was taught NEVER to speak that way to anyone and I would like to think that's how I live my life.
