Charlie Pughe & Logan Aspin - 'French Exit' | Track of the Week

Charlie Pughe is a South London-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and vocalist with roots in Wales and Bristol. His sound blends classical training with experimental R&B and hip-hop, creating music that defies genre boundaries. After studying at Goldsmiths University, he released his debut EP, Interacting with Strangers, in 2021, followed by Portraits of Places We Thought We Knew, a collaboration with producer Logan Aspin.
Logan Aspin is a London based musician/ producer that has rooted his music through the production of RnB, Hip Hop, Soul, to Electro Funk.
His inspiration and musical education comes from Soul, Funk and Jazz, sounds that he tries to combine with the most modern electronics. They both find these characteristics both when playing instruments, but also when sampling records, trying to create a modern and analog sound.
Their track "French Exit" was inspired by a close friend who left for Australia, capturing the bittersweet feeling of his departure. The song's intense yet soft drums provided the perfect backdrop for Charlie to explore new elements of his evolving sound.
