Charlie, born missing both legs above the knee, walked for the first time earlier this month. He was adopted from China in the summer of 2016, right around his 4th birthday. Charlie and his mom traveled to POA from Georgia, and he couldn't wait to get to work on his "knees and two feet!" No fear, only excitement! We asked 7-year-old Bella - a bilateral congenital above knee amputee who, like Charlie was adopted from China - to come by to give him some encouragement and tips. When the two of them met they formed an instant bond. After examining Bella's legs and her "little hand," Charlie showed her his hand and exclaimed, "you like me, like me!!," and gave her a big hug. Bella took Charlie under her wing and showed him how she walks, gets back up off the ground, etc. They also had lots of fun and shared giggles throughout the day. Later on, Charlie met Regas, another bilateral congenital above knee amputee who is a Paralympic athlete! Regas happened to be in the office getting his running blades tuned up in preparation for the Track & Field World Championships in London this summer. Charlie was so happy and proud to pose for pictures with such a big super hero -- just like him. #noboundaries #poakids
