Ah, memories... Me and my first roommate were binging It's Always Sunny and a few episodes before this, I said to my roommate, "Hey listen... you know how gay guys have 'gay-dar' right? Well... as a singer, I'm telling you... Charlie can sing. I've never heard him sing, but I'm just tellin' you... Charlie can sing. You don't get that kind of vocal control and NOT sing. He's 100% a singer. My singer-dar is on the case" My roommate was like, "Naw, he's got a squeaky pitiful voice. Ain't no way he can sing" "Dude, I'm tellin' ya. You don't just develop that kind of vocal control." "Vocal control? He's all over the place!" "Guarantee you he can sing" "Whatever dude" Fast forward just a couple hours, and Charlie starts singing the "Paddy's Bar" theme and I just look at him. He's like, "That's just a coincidence. Also, I could sing that. That was more than an impression than actual singing. You were talking about his range. He can't actually use that high pitched squeaking he's always doing." "Of course he can. You don't work those muscles at the gym. You develop those muscles by singing" "Or talking like a crazy person. He doesn't have any usable vocal range" "You're floundering. Admit I was right" "You're not right." Just a few minutes later, it gets to this scene, and as soon as he gets to "FIIIIIIIIIIGHT" I just pierced the side of my roommate's face with my eyes and he refused to look at me. After the episode ends, he just gets up, and goes to bed without saying a word.

I'm really glad to know other people picked up on that vibe. I heard great gig too, especially toward the end, but i definetly get the wall comparison as well, the very begining of the song sounds like some of the first songs on that album.

In 2020, I used to work as a security guard at a really shitty company, the boss was a complete bitch who got a kick out of mistreating us (wouldn't even let another guard visit his family in Morocco after he learned his mom had passed). Anyway, she used to make some sort of rounds to "check that we're not slacking off", which was ultimately her excuse to wander around and chain smoke. My way of quitting was bringing a pretty loud Bluetooth speaker to my last day and playing this for her and the shitty clients at full blast before just walking out. Thanks, Charlie!
