Charlie the Talking Cockatiel Moments!

This is Charlie's latest video. He is currently missing. He left us on the 14 January through a window my son did not know was open.
Please share to all your New Zealand North Island friends, to keep an ear and eye out for our Charlie. We miss him terribly :(
Update 12/02/2018
Sadly we have not had Charlie return to us. We can only hope in this Summer weather that he is somewhere safe. Otherwise we knew he had a grand time while he was with us.

I’m so sorry to hear what happened to sweet Charlie. I have had three cockatiels and I loved them all. Such gentle loving birbs. Mumther gibs scritches to birby. Please know that it is clear that you loved him and that’s more than some birds get. My best wishes to you and your family.

I just came across your videos and sad to say I share a similar story as yourself but live in Canada. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss, I understand exactly how it feels and half to live with the unknown for the rest of your life. My little guy went missing in September and miss him everyday. I also recently just brought home a baby boy but will never forget Chico. I hope and pray that all the missing pets are found and loved wherever they are. Your Indian ringneck is just adorable, you can tell he is really loved by the entire family.

Oh my God! I have a cockatiel too that looks like him. He went missing for 3 days. I was crying like crazy. Posted in Facebook targeting the neighbouring town and people I know living around the area. 3 days I got a call about a bied found on their garden so sweet and loves singing. God I know it was him. I cried for 3 days waking up at 5 am looking all day screaming for his name. People staring at me and I simply didn't care. I gave a huge a reward to the people who found him but that is nothing to the agony of 3 days not seeing him. Did u found him/her?

flazen pinero god, I know how horrible those few days are. I’m really sorry you went through that, but I’m glad you got him back. I remember when my cockatiel flew away, I spent the entire day searching for him, along with most of the next 3 days. Unfortunately we live in a tiny village surrounded by miles upon miles of forest, so it was really hard to search for him and we couldn’t rely on neighbours to look out for him. I ran and ran through the forest in just sandals until my feet were so torn up by the thorns that I physically couldn’t stand anymore. Despite everything we did (printing posters to put up in all the neighbouring villages, posting on every local facebook group, calling out for him constantly - anything we could possibly do), we never found him. It’s been 5 months now so all I can hope for is that he enjoyed the beautiful sunset on the day he left and wasn’t put through too much pain. He was my best friend and he meant the world to me. At least I’ll see him again one day in a much more peaceful place.

I can’t afford to lose my birds. I’ve only lost them once and they came back. Tho, I lost them one last time and they were never found. I live in an Australian forestry with lots of hawks. It’s been multiple days, they’re dead. It’s sad but such is life.

I am so sorry to hear that your precious Charlie is missing. I'm here in the US, so I'm sending as many good thoughts to both you and Charlie hoping that he's safe and warm. I've got a sweet cockatiel named Ziggy (in honor of David Bowie!) and I just can't fathom the thought of him missing. I've always been a dog and cat person and never thought I could love a bird. Boy was I wrong. While I will miss seeing new Charlie videos (unless he finds his way home!), I do look forward to your new videos of your new baby.

I'm so sorry that he flew away. He looks like such a sweet little bird. What darling antics! I've never had a cockatiel in my life, but I have been a budgie mom. I have not had a bird fly away (yet, anyway) but I have had two pass away very suddenly and unexpectedly. It's absolutely devastating and heartbreaking. Those little angels were part of my family, just like this precious little guy is part of yours. I presume you've notified local animal shelters, rescue groups, bird groups, etc? I wish you luck. My thoughts will be with you and your family, and I sincerely hope that you are able to find him.

I never heard a cockatiel talk before. I always hear them whistle or make noises. There's many video's that say their birds singing a song but it's actually whistling. In my book, singing and whistling are two completely different things. Your cockatiel is the first one I ever heard actually say something. Smart bird. Aww, it's so sad to lose a pet. I lost my cockatiel while I was at school camp in 2016. My mother accidently left his cage open, so he flew away. The annoying thing is that I kept telling my parents that I wanted to have him as an indoor bird, but they claimed that it would be "cruel". If he did stay indoors, it never would have happened.
