I’m from Indianapolis. 4 Deuce is not a gang. 4Deuce is a hood. She slightly explained it correctly. 4 Deuce is referencing to E 42nd St. Indianapolis is not a gang banging city. Although there are VLs and GDs, they don’t bang on each other now like they did in the 90’s. In the 90’s and early 2000’s, gangs were more forefront, but at the end of the day, your neighborhood always comes first in Indianapolis. Take the neighborhood she’s in for example, it’s historically a Vicelord neighborhood, but it’s not uncommon for someone to also be GD from there, and if something popped off, it didn’t matter what gang yo opp was in, you fought for yo neighborhood over anything. As she said, the younger generation no longer rep gangs, such as VL or GD for the most part. Hell, to be honest, they don’t even Hood Bang like that anymore. These young boys got they own lil clicks. Most of the violence in the city is over money and women, it’s almost never over a gang.
@NaShanClay
@NaShanClay 3 жыл бұрын
yea when I was younger is was more of a family sticking to their neighborhood.... but inside was still gang activity. So its really considered a gang... but its not so family oriented anymore. I grew up around the older people so I was raised differently than from the people from my generation. I was taught to stick together but now they are in their own cliques

Yea I left it alone. It was never me since a kid. I attached myself to my basketball because I believe that was my way out. Nashan, you are incredibly wise and mature for your age. You are absolutely correct about children being a product of the way they are raised and if we want to see change it starts with parenting and love at home. If children and young adults your age realize that they can change this pattern by raising their kids better I believe things will gradually improve. I think the main thing that needs to change is our horrendous education system that disproportinaly fails children who grow up in low income areas and access to mental health for adults and children. Drug addiction is a mental health problem and telling people not to do drugs is not going to fix the underlying problem. There are so many roadblocks for people who grow up in poverty that it is almost impossible to get out but I really think you have what it takes to do something really special with your life. You have the insight and passion to want change and I think you have the ability to excel at whatever you decide to do with your life. We need more strong women in this world like you!! I was in Indianapolis in 1982, 83, 84 back then. The only white girl in Haughville. I was alone with my baby boy, Imani. The people were so good to me. The neighborhood was run by KayRon. I probably didn't spell it right, but that his name. He was godfather over the neighborhood, and it was safe. And nobody got evicted, or utilities shut off. The men that made the money put it right back into the neighborhood. I never had a problem. I will always remember...since I came back to the west coast with another son on the way.

Just moved to Indy it ain't that bad as a whole and I've been on the east side for months. Indy has alot more going for itself than most big cities, try coming from a place like GI or Dayton, OH were there aren't any opportunity for jobs or business for the city. I'm just saying indianapolis isn't the worst place to be for some people
@midnightvelvet8077
@midnightvelvet8077 3 жыл бұрын
Yes indianapolis has so much opportunity compared to other places like memphis or lil rock and baton rouge down south. In the south discrimination is like in your face. Certain people get certain jobs there like at the oil refinery or train conductors which are good paying jobs. Other than that most young black boys sling dope to get ahead. I like Indy . It's cheap and a reasonable place to raise a family
