A unique aspect of New Orleans is that some of those areas he is driving through are legitimately a block or two off of some of the wealthiest areas in the City. For instance, 7:06. That spot is about a block away from the intersection of Louisiana Ave and St. Charles, a very upscale part of Uptown. With very small exceptions, there is no one area that is "the hood." Everything is mixed together for the most part. You could be in the nicest, best-kept area of the city, but unknowingly walk a few blocks in the wrong direction and in up in a bad spot.

@SuperRoshua3 жыл бұрын
@King Duke So what's your point? I'm a black man and my great-grandparents were child slaves. My parents were born during the Great Depression and children during World War II. My grandparents would be well over 100 years old if they were still alive and I knew all four of them. All of these people were from an entirely different world than the world we know today and as bad as things could get back then, they would've much rather lived in the times that they lived in because in spite of all of the advances in today's modern world, people now more than ever want to complain like children rather than just fix the problems themselves. You don't like the leadership? Become a leader. You don't like the media? Study what they do and prove them wrong. But that's not what happens out here. Instead there's a bunch of people that get caught in this storm because they wanna get caught. And it's complain, complain, complain all over the place, and very few people search for real fundamental answers. There's always been someone throughout human history that said things were fucked up, and yet somehow we're still here thousands of years later. Ain't that somethin'? I think so. How many people even write their Congressman? That's how you get things done. You don't just vote, you let them know who you are and they respond. Most people don't even do that much, they just sit there and complain. The reason history matters is because it teaches you what people have done over the years to survive the times, and that knowledge is priceless. "THAT IS WHAT IS GONNA SAVE YOU", not complaining and not some snarky comment about "grade school literature", which by the way I don't know anybody in grade school who said "Past is prologue", those are words of scholars, many of whom are living like fat-cats while people like you complain about what's wrong with the world. You wanna save yourself? Rise above what everybody else is doing and analyze this world on a strictly psychological basis and figure out why people do the things that they do, and once you rise above, stay above, then you'll be able to talk about saving yourself. Otherwise the lack of knowledge is gonna get the best of ya, and that has been proven throughout history over and over again. Have a good day.

and that, is the million dollar question. When Generations of people have been subjected to bread crumbs of low expectations not from the Whites, but from their own Elders and from their own leaders, then they will never have any impetus to rise above it. Race Hustlers have gained great wealth off the backs of these folks by talking out of both sides of their mouths. If people in the Hoods actually knew what their leaders were doing in their name, they would throw them out with reckless abandon. But they don't know...because they don't want to know. and the the common denominator is they have put people in charge that do not have the community's interest at heart. If people invested in the communities, then the Elders would be out of a job.

Which is worse: 2 Murder scenes in New Orleans or a birthday party in St. Louis? Actually I’m from St. Louis, and while I may be biased, that big birthday party where everyone had balloons and people singing let’s you know there’s hope and love amongst the hardest lives to live. I do really love New Orleans too. I was there before Katrina. However, maybe it’s because the streets are narrower and more people in the footage here, it seemed like NO had a more claustrophobic feel to it. Both are pretty bad these days unfortunately. My city’s buildings are beautiful but so many have been dilapidated and falling down to due to how things are going. RIP to those whose lives were lost in NO here. Very sad.

You hit the nail on the coffin no pun intended. I've spent some time in St. Louis but I grew up in the New Orleans area ( The West bank) and that whole city and state for that matter is claustrophobic as hell. Sometimes it's like you can't breathe, especially for young black men who want better.
@PJBovio3 жыл бұрын
They're BOTH sad cities. This time, my mind was more on the children who live in these cities than the slum conditions and poverty per se. I saw more violence in New Orleans with those loud, scary arguments and ominous crowd-arounds. I was worried things would develop into more than harsh, threatening words and deadly stares; in fact, I was worried that those involved might take it upon themselves to attack YOU, CharlieBo, throw a brick through your windshield or toss a molotove cocktail through your driver's-side window. I felt myself getting seriously nervous about that. I also felt lousy about kids being present, because all this stuff messes with a kid's head and does permanent damage. What children see, hear, experience and witness at an early age stays embedded in their minds and what child deserves what they're absorbing living under these conditions?? In St. Louis, there was a party with balloons and kids in attendance, and I hope they had fun because in boarded-up, broken-down, burned-out shells of neighborhoods, kids NEED to have fun, something to look forward to. The future lies with our kids, and we're not offering them much. On another note, it's damn sad to see the waste and destruction of what was once beautiful architecture in St. Louis. Architecture carries with it a rich history and sense of pride but, just as with the children who grow up within and among it, heads turn away and eyes go blind, and what's bad turns to worse.

Matthew 6:14-15 Some of the most ruthless human beings [irrespective of skin color] are those with a cold unforgiving heart, that have become numb to pain & violence, who also have years worth of hostility built up in them...and this is majority of our youth that's being killed today [in every city]. I see it everyday working in Metro Atlanta! Children who normally act out in public [behavioral challenges], are those dealing with traumatic experiences. These teens and these now adults; have fatal behavioral issues rooted in anger bitterness hurt loneliness, because they are still dealing with traumatic experiences of dark yesterdays they haven't healed from. The Ancient Greek word for trauma means injury. It's the psychological wound that stays after something really terrible has happened to us. It affects our bodies, our minds, our memories and our sense of safety in the world. War, violence, kidnapping, torture, and sexual assault are all causes of trauma. And many people, some who I'm sure you know, maybe even you reading this, have gone through these traumatic experiences and it's effecting your mental, their view on relationships religion and the world. One thing I will never understand about the hood is, since when did "saying sorry" or "remaining a virgin" until you're married or "choosing to stay in the crib not hoping off the porch hitting the streets" or actually paying attention in school finding a tutor [getting an education] mean we're soft, gay or lame?? We hardly have any pure role models today. Majority of the role models we do have, aren't really inspiring the lil homie to do anything but to be an imitation of himself [a terrible influence]. A lot of how people view things in the hood and the world in general is AntiBible. That's why the violence is through the roof, because the world is becoming lawless. Many people are moving far away from the moral law of God that is here for our spiritual protection, our needs and shelter. Where there is no law where there is no order, there is chaos and disruption. And I'm not just talking about cops. I'm talking about a lawless world from God's perspective, people calling good evil and evil good without no sorrow for God. I never understood how the homie get booked for murder, and his homies wanna kill the snitch. He wouldn't even be in that situation or deceased had we had more "Principal Clarks from the movie Lean On Me". Actual role models [Fatherly Figures] who's been training these youngins very young to stay out the way, and earnestly seek Jesus. When your homie go to prison for life, you want to kill the snitch, but not beat yourself up for being a bad influence and not encouraging the lil homie to exercise self control in moments of anger because we all are aware, quick tempers are fatal. More people are dying trying to keep the "street code" which is a form of law. Yet fail to see, the streets is ran by the devil, and he has no cooperation or good in him. So of course, friends become enemies. Satan come to KILL physical bodies dreams, STEAL your joy and DESTROY your soul. And the street code has never really been a code to preserve life, its been cunnery by the devil to snatch life away, casting souls to where he is... hell. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! I rather take meekness lame and alive in Christ Jesus, over pride death and the second death [hell]. After years of being locked down, no more "free the homie posts", phone calls, or visits. You forget the homie existence, they become a memory to talk about only when everybody drunk smoking and reminiscing. Instead of big homies, We need more genuine men and woman of God who would teach our youth to fall in love with Jesus, teaching them how to be sheeps among wolves. Black people we must admit; we have a real problem with forgiving no matter what race, including our own. The chains coming off us was never intended for us to take those same chains and strangle each other (kill one another). There are many blind leading the blind, that are falling into the ditch. Many of our young men, see nothing in their futures but rapping or death. Listen carefully, rapping is an art, it's storytelling. One could use rap as poetry. But the other side of rap is... industry rap...and this is where its crooked evil Sodom and Gomorrah, stay away from the industry young men. If you want to rap and tell your story, my advice to you, "let Jesus be the Author and you be the Writer. I guarantee, your lyrics would be much different than a lot of the garbage we're seeing today. Hell is more realer than the world we live in right now. And many people are waking up there. There is no R.I.P if they died without Christ. Jesus is at the door, seek him while he may be found. Worse catastrophic events are coming and we must prepare now. Being nice giving back to the hood, won't get anybody including me, into Heaven. Realizing YOU are a wretched sinner throwing yourself on the mercy seat of God, repenting of your sins, trusting Jesus with your life and actually following him will get you into heaven. But it starts with a decision. Submit your life to Jesus, and he will give you a new life that pleases him. Cry out to God, he loves a humble and broken heart before him ❤️

I lived on Pennsylvania when I was a kid, right next too south Broadway, down the street from that Circle K. And on Michigan too. The state streets are no joke, i was like 12 years old when a dude flashed a gun at us too scare us and than laughed walking away. Our neighbor had this garage, with a panel missing on the bottom, not too big, somebody stuffed a body in it one night and a couple days later there was a horrible smell drifting around, one of the neighbors called the cops and they found the body. Gunshots didn’t happen often surprisingly. But you definitely had too be on your ps and qs down there. We didn’t go anywhere unless we were in a group. I had some good times down there, but it’s definitely not a place I plan on going back too anytime soon. I live in south county now and it’s truly a blessing compared too the state streets. I pray for everyone down there, Saint Louis gets worse every year

New Orleans has a lot of trap streets....meaning if you run into a dangerous situation, it won't be easy to escape because 1: the streets in the hood are very narrow 2: The streets in New Orleans are mostly One Ways 3: The streets in the hood haven't been paved in decades so the potholes are serious and the streets buckle meaning they crack upward.....If you are not from New Orleans and don't know where the hot spots are, you should only drive on major Avenues and Boulevards, main streets only
