Have said this in previous vids about Columbus, but one of the things about the city is that a lot of the bad areas don't *look* like you'd expect slums to: they still have single-family homes in them without a ton of broken or boarded-up windows, no huge piles of trash or large swaths of abandoned buildings, etc. But the drugs, violence, shootings, and poverty are definitely there.
@Roidweiser

This is very true. I lived in this exact hood (he went by my old place) and it definitely didn't feel as safe as this video makes it look. Seeing prostitutes and drug deals all the time right out front of my duplex door was something else.

Hilltop (where you are) has always had pockets of calm, but Sullivant is very dangerous (runs through it). Biggest reason why a lot of these hokes still look somewhat presentable is mostly because the city will actually sue people, take them to court and seize their property if it is in too much disrepair. After that it either goes into county auction or land bank.

I lived in Wedgewood @ 764, then 803, then 885, I never lived any where but the Westside/Hilltop, I was a regular @ Boomer's on Sullivant and was really into the music scene Columbus offers & did a lot of photography for several metal bands & was a regular @ the Alrosa Villa & even took my daughters with me to shows cause it was cheaper than a sitter & they absolutely loved the perks of meeting not just the local bands but the headliners like STP, Crazy Town, Drowning Pool, Union Underground, Sebastian Bach and both my daughters went to school @ Eakin Elem, Wedgewood Mid & Briggs HS, From Wedgewood I moved over 1 st to Kingsford Rd & that is where I met my husband who's nickname was Twin (he's an identical twin) the Hilltop called him the white boy twin & there was a set of identical colored guys too in same hood, (who was from Marion & not on Westside long b4 we met) (03, been together 21 yrs & married 16 yrs nowthen I was @ Ogden & Broad, Eureka & Broad, & Wayne & Broad from 1990-2005 & I did a lot of driving for several dope boyz & knew crews from Southend, all over the West, the Short North & from the the D. Back then before the big Fed bust on Westside things were not like it's became in last 9-10 yrs (since 2015) & it has so many vacant homes vs occupied & the fenny is rampant bringing death to all it touches. I'm glad my sister had my girls in Tx. Her & (husband) had ability to give them a home, great friends, & ability to become whatever their dreams allowed. looks pretty good to me. I live in columbus. the houses look pretty well upkept,, paint is in good condition, not many boarded up windows. Just poor neighborhoods.

Born, raised and still live on the Hilltop and I love it here. Some bad streets, but mostly low and middle class blue collar hard worker. I'm a professional with an MBA and there are also a lot of professionals too.
