I grew up in the south of Baton Rouge and not the northern part where you are filming. One interesting thing can be seen is in the first few blocks from the Exxon refinery. Through the 1960s, many of the refinery systems became automated and less workers were needed. That area started to lose population. Because every few years there would be an explosion at EXXON and there was a need to reduce liability payouts to the residents, the company bought out the houses and lots near the plant and bulldozed them. So now there are all of these lots which have driveways, but are like a parkland. It isn't like the usual decayed and abandoned urban areas.

I graduated from Lee High in 1976 which used Dixie Flags. We had a lot of the kids from LSU professors, chemists at the plants and the professional classes. A couple of years later, the Baton Rouge magnet school opened and took many of these kids while many of the White people fled to further out in the Parish and Livingston Parish. So ig in Texas and parts of NM theres small towns called “Colonias” the largest is currently being built outside of Huston called Colony Ridge with 45k-75k people living there. They sell empty lots to immigrants at ridiculous interest rates and they get to build their own home. Theres no zoning laws in these colonias so some lots are tents or shacks while others are complete homes. They claim the cartel controls at least half of colony ridge and are paying off local politicians. The sheriff for Cleveland Texas claims there are potentially 100k people living in 6 subdivisions of colony ridge. Locals claim the area looks insanely run down and is dangerous. You could be the first to cover it! Next time you take a trip to Houston might be worth chexking out
@pavblake8066 Жыл бұрын
Not to mention theres no electricity, plumbing, or sewage in most of these developments so theres been reports of shit overflowing into the dirt roads over there. You also dont need a social security number to get approved for a lot. You only need $500. It sounds pretty crazy to me anyway

What that is crazy affordable living. sounds like switching over to me. the people today hear story's of these old towns used to be bikers and country bars and dixie flags and all and to top it of it was built in western days alot of people want to come back to a place like this cheap and everything u can't beat it Wyle some pay 300k and more. So give it to the outlaws then and now to make affordable living happen. and I see something differnt soon right on theirs goods and bads to everything.

Baton Rouge has a nice side and a really awful side. One side pays for the majority of the city while the other is continuing to destroy itself. The majority of the population keeps voting in the worst people possible making the problems worse. The part that's decent wants to break away from the other part (which is understandable at this point). I can tell you the worst part of BR is worse than the worst part of New Orleans. Crazy times

Why you call it run down & dirty before you say things about sqaullor if they're happy there, let them be happy. Its hard pulling up roots , its not that easy. Thinm about it. Dont say nothing until you walk in in their shoes, boots. I feel down about the way they live. I grew up like that. It was a hard life but we survive. Our dad move us til he found a job. My parents stayed together til they went home. So dont judge poeple how they dress talk and live. Be kind to all living things. God & .jesus will be there for you.
