i think you shouldnt bash video games as much as you did in your video. the general sense is that video games are a waste of time but the most important thing you are missing is what video games teach us subconsciously and actually can improve our cognitive functions. You simply label it as "fun" and a "waste of time", we all spend massive amounts of time on our hobbies, because we find them enjoyable, its easy to bash others for what they enjoy, there is more to it than that. But i see you might just have a negative bias from what video games have been portrayed as having a negative effect on people through the media, news, etc.

@@ryanl442 I think he said video games are fun as a hobby but if you get addicted and spend 5-6 hours a day playing games then your life wouldn’t improve, as in if you’re an adult, how do you have time to work, exercise, socialize, family, taking care of things if you spent so much time on games.

As a gamer I can definitely confirm that if I hadn’t been a gamer I probably would be doing much better in life than if I had never touched gaming in my life. However, gaming does bring me a lot of happiness, so I don’t think that I should be cutting it out. Rather, only gaming when I’m done with everything else in my day is probably the way to go

definitely as a broke international student in the US, I am helped a lot by cooking at home, no take-outs! In like a college setting, it can be a bit difficult for some people to say no to friends asking you to go out for food and declining offer while explain my situation made me vulnerable at first. But friends (might not everyone) will understand! saying no to eat-out but suggesting alternatives like cooking together can allow us to stay on budget and keep nourishing the friendship we have:) also I initially it stressed me out to be on a tight budget and have to be really careful about groceries, but I started to kind of enjoy how "smart" I can do groceries, using the app of grocery stores which does not cost anything for membership and which does get members discounts and allows you to get something for free after collecting certain amount of points. Maybe trying some recipe on the internet can be not something individuals can do depending on their financial circumstances but doing that once in a while can minimize the stress of being on a budget! (personally allowing myself to get quality fish too..., I am a very classic Japanese I need fish lol) also improvising and cooking some sort of meal can be very fun, I personally enjoy it whatever the creation it is haha Great video Charlie!

I love quality clothing. I wear nice originally expensive clothes but I hardly ever buy new ( only socks and underwear 😅 and those are always no name brand) I find every thing I need at thrift stores and find joy in doing my own repairs. I cook food at home because I have health issues so similar results just different motivations

The housing advice has a couple things to consider. In the certain states, your primary residence and sometimes your primary vehicle are protected from creditors, e.g. if you get sued. Doesn't necessarily apply to a person where their primary income comes from KZbin but for someone who rents a home for example are at a higher risk.

I’ve never thrown any clothes away. I buy good quality clothes & shoes & wear them till they are worn out. I have a drying rack & I line dry almost all my clothes which makes them last longer. I buy good quality food as well. I see so much waste in this world it is ridiculous. I can park in my garage & get rid of junk mail & clutter before it piles up. I don’t buy magazines or newspapers. I do buy books & keep them a long time. These videos are great thank you, Charlie you are a smart young man. I’ve been enjoying all your videos & take lots of notes. Thank you! 😊

My son loves to game and spends a lot of time online. He has several consoles along with a $5000 gaming desktop. He wastes a lot of money on skins and purchasing items in the games. The flip side of this is that he decided to learn how to code and wants to be a software engineer when he graduates.

I used to buy nice clothes for work. Several years ago my company switched to corporate casual wear. I was no longer required to wear a suit and tie to work. I started wearing khakis and dress shirts which later revolved to jean and polo shirts. No I work from home and wear t shirts and sweat pants. I do purchase nice clothes for my children but only when it is on sale. My son wears Express for men, but we buy the clearance clothes when it is an additional 60% off. My kids are both athletic and like to wear Nike. We get Nike clothes at the outlet or hand me downs from my sister who works at Nike corporate.

I would argue that a new car is a fair investment. The way to think of it is not as something you want to resell, but as a transportation tool you want to maintain as long a possible. I bought a new car when interest rates were really low with the intent to keep for at least the next decade or more. It wont end up being sold second hand, I'll use it until it will eventually end up in junk yard. I plan to maintain it well and use it sparingly. My old car got totaled after 16 years of usage.

I love cars and have purchased a few that have gone up in value. Each of them sells for more that they were brand new. I detail cars as a hobby and take very good care of them. The E46 M3 manual that I purchased in 2003 is climbing in value and is already selling for $10,000 more than I paid for it 19 years ago. I always get stopped by people in the street asking if I want to sell it.

I do need versus wants now and I'm also mindful of what I buy that causes unnecessary clutter in my apartment. I find that getting rid of things/donating items is a constant thing I need to do atleast once a month, which includes paper work/junk mail. I used to buy a lot of clothes too, but now I have lessen it to once a year kind of thing (if needed).

I've pretty much completely cut out fine dining as a $1.50 costco hot dog brings me as much joy as a $200 meal at a michelin starred restaurant. They both go in the same way and come out looking the same.

I admire you for these. The greatest of them all is real estate. Not only it’s tax deductible the value goes up very high especially nowadays. I was in real estate back home and worked at major banks here in US particularly in the mortagage department . You will never loose in real estate and you will enjoy the property too. Great video, Charlie, we think similarly from clothing to depreciative assets. I think the biggest differentiator between those who actually have wealth and those who wish to merely portray is the mindset and how they value their relationship with money. I too had a phase of looking rich, but then you come to find as you make money that it is not about looking the part, its about being it and remaining authentically you A.K.A t-shirt, joggers and hoodie.. Once you have kids things will change drastically. You will need to buy a house, save for college, pay more for insurance, food, clothing a larger car. If you want to travel it costs more. If you want to send them to private school, swimming lessons, tutoring, sports etc you will be spending a small fortune. Trying to balance everything and no longer having any spare time while saving towards retirement will be a challenge.
