I think it looks like a great and unique game. I think the reason you can't pause the game and stop the rejected requests from coming in, is because in real life you also can't pause a server that is live. Adds a little bit realism. But it's definitely annoying when you are trying to get 3 stars. Never seen this game before, but I'm looking forward to seeing part 2 on your channel!

Yeah I guess my thought behind that was that, if a system doesn’t exist yet, why would anyone be sending data to it in the first place? Surely we would seek to begin collecting data at a location AFTER we know where to send it. ;)

I hate SRE.. I'm an SRE.. and IDK if I want to play this game.. I just got done. WOWOWO.. 1:44 wait a sec! time out.. Separation of duties. You're gonna have to put in a ticket with the Networking team. Make sure to include the target IP, dest IP, port, udp/tcp and is it bi-directional. I'm gonna assume you're not just giving your back end server a pub IP.. so you're also gonna need a VIP. You can put them both in the same ticket just be sure to annotate you have 2 changes change 1 of 2 is xyz and change 2 of 2 is abc.. Ok got it.. They'll have to put in a change for that and the CAB reviews changes every Wednesday. You are allowed to schedule your change as early as that Thursday afternoon. Ok got it.. great.. Make sure you get that all documented for the @#$ auditors.. That's it.. the DLC for this game is "The Yearly Audit." or "Outside Audit", Sorry, forgot to ask, you did do the go-live on that server already right? But in all honesty... This hit me and I'm a little sad, this is exactly how the CEO's think IT works.

It's hard to give people a taste of something as complex as SRE. I build data warehouses from c suites who say numbers have to go up. You're 💯 on the ticket and CAB experience. I think that's like how COD and fortnite leave out proper weapon and political negotiation of Troop deployments. This game does feel like some startup cloud stuff though and I suspect many networks got built exactly like this. I'll have to check it out, if just to use it in meetings to explain why I need a new server or load balancer upgrade. 😆

yeah I did SRE for a few years, they got the looking at graphs part right... the only thing worse than excessive change control is NO CHANGE CONTROL, just cowboy IT bang bang, my 1st Jr SysAdmin job 15 years ago the shop had zero standards, change control etc, just constant fires, on-prem DC, someone accidentally overloaded a PDU once and the whole company was down for 14 hours.

Cool game. FYI, INT environment will generally not match prod, too expensive. It will be a simpler version, but it's a good idea to test in INT first. You could have the dev fix the issues in INT, before deploying in prod.

Well you nailed 2 things, toward the end you waited vs just touching more stuff, which part of the experience is knowing when "Not" to intervene because that might actually be more disruptful and cause more overall downtime, you also complained about the GUI, and if you talk to SysAdmins and Operations folks most will agree that the Front-End (Web Designer) Developers that make the GUIs for most of their tools are objectively TERRIBLE and it's like they never actually asked for input from any of the people using the tools. That part is accurate just trying to get your raw data to display so you can actually diagnose the problem, but you're fighting some trendy developers concept of UI/UX design that usually hide valuable information like cutting off the names of servers or excessive cell padding when you're literally trying to maximize the amount of raw data on the screen.
