With how complex and granular waste disposal is, it's a bit dissonant to have other parts of the game so simplified (hospitals needing no medicine, the small number of consumer goods, grain not needing to be milled, etc). It really shows the game's evolution from tongue-in-cheek soviet satire game to hardcore economic planning simulator.

It's always been something. The power system has been pretty much the same forever and yet it's far more complicated than any other game's power system. Requiring all the services to support population is also a different concept than most games like this. Waste is just closer to following the power system than the food system.

for the construction office you can select which work they should do (roads, buildings, underground...) No need to select and remember :)

Far as I'm aware the construction offices can build off of footpaths, so you didn't necessarily need to road that train station. I could be wrong though.

No no no no comrade that's not right at all- you need maximum sentences for all crimes. Criminals work lots, need no electronics and live in very efficient lodgings.

From others play through, a city with 3000 pop can't produce enough waste to constantly make power from burning waste. So you might want to think about importing waste if you still insist to make power out of it

Are you still exporting electricity or is there only enough to power the city?

It’s all dependent on workers. My city operates without issue as long as there are at least 3 happy people working on the power plant, and later on it will need 5 or so. Extra production goes to the grid and to the neighbors. The struggle is keeping enough people in there continuously, while also moving enough people to other industries.

I know these videos are old, but the fact that the coal storage is overflowing with 2000+ tons and there is still power being imported and exports are limited to 50% is killing me 💀

Power is not being imported if the power plant is operating. The import setting is an “up to” setting. It only imports what is insufficient. There isn’t enough coal being produced to afford running them at 100% all the time yet anyways, but more being produced than what is needed for the republic. That’s why. It doesn’t matter. Stability is important, and I see things you do not when I have the file right in front of me
