WHAT IS IXION?
IXION combines city building, survival elements and exploration, into a thrilling space opera as you explore the stars. Propelled onwards through a perilous journey, you are the Administrator of the Tiqqun space station, charged with finding a new home for humanity.

Charlie playing this game to an almost perfection. From the moment you found the first sphere and your people came back just SLIGHTLY changed, and every encounter since that's been 'this is us but not' or 'this is not us but us' I've been theorizing that there's some MAJOR alternate reality factors coming into play. I'm not sure if the Vohl drive itself does this, or if it's just fragments of some ancient other something that the Tiqqun has run into in multiple realities and they're bleeding over. The people with different names, the crew with different colored outfits, the fragment of the Tiqqun that was both adrift and destroyed and ALSO still in place with all its crew. I have to wonder if you're even still in your own reality, or if each jump is taking you to the target system in a parallel reality that progressed in a similar, but not quite the same, path.

oooooh! that's a cool idea. way cooler than my idea with the Tiqqun in the last area being from a future that got sent back in time. But that makes it more threatening then.. what's it? both the Vohl jump system and the Paraneci.

I think this already started with the first (potentially manipulated) jump and how the engine operates. And with Eden being sus? How did they even know about the habitable planets in the first place? This seems way too far away to be observed & found from Earth. I hope it's not one of these Lost type endings, but I feel it always is.

@@Dark__Thoughts we currently can detect planets and figure out elements on It from spectrograph, that is the various wavelengths. So we can figure out that planet Remus may be habitable because it has water, oxygen and a few other elements needed via spectrograph. Yes there is margin of error due to the star dwarfing the planet as the planet crosses the star but it's that distortion that is how we know a distant star has a planet in the first place, or rather the distortion and dimming of a stars luminosity as the planet moved between the star and our observation point. We remove the spectography of the sun without the planet in front from the spectography with the planet in front to figure the planets differences. And if we look at those removed spectral images and see it got stronger from the planet in front the star thee is high probability the planet may have the same element as the star as well as the different ones we saw.

If I'm remembering correctly the medusae crew was first replaced by a copy of the crew, which then you played fast and loose with (because they weren't the real crew) and got them offed by the monster. The ones that have shown up here are the originals.

I am honestly shocked we're at episode 21 and you haven't turned the resource HUD on yet 😅 If nobody's told you, the 'four boxes' icon in the upper left corner will allow you to see all of your resources at once, all the time, which will help you massively when you need to juggle storage throughout the ship.

I'm pretty sure medusae was the science ship that didn't make it prior to the tiqqun doing a vohle jump out of the solar system(?) I've seen a science ship plain up disappear between a system jump on another playthrough

I think so too. It would then make sense that the Medusae would be revived, as they are the only lost ship to not suffer any cataclysmic damage.

it could be that one. BUT! Remember the science team that came back who were/but werent the science team they sent out? Maybe this is the other part of that group. Like somehow they got mutated and two versions were birthed. the other one DID die to the mutant.

Correction! Nope. The medusa had the scienctist swap back in Ep 6 "Surface expeditions challenge our bravery" at 3:02. so there is some space/time/reality shenanigans going on!

Regarding the Medusae. You probably just forgot, but the very first sphere you came across. Well you touched it, and it said the entire science team was replaced. You then allowed the replaced team to join the crew and continue on as the Medusae science team.

Hmm...Naraka is the PA of the Piranesi from this game, while Sovereigns' name from Mass Effect was Nazara. Naraka, Nazara...coincidence? I think NOT! 😉 My opinion on the Medusa (Not a spoiler, as I haven't played that part of the game yet!) is that you might have glitched a earlier quest with the grey orb thing. When you first encountered it, maybe you were supposed to touch it and it would have eaten the entire ship along with the crew, only to spit them back out here. Even if you didn't follow through all the way, it still flagged it in the data files and basically cloned the ship with it's original crew and spawned it here. So...free ship? Yay? On Edden, I think she's the one causing those accidents. With her trying follow her programming to cover up Romulus, any potential data corruption from the earlier fight against Naraka, and the cumulative amounts of damage taken over the multiple jumps, I think she's glitching out. Disconnecting her may be the only way to survive. =^x^=

For the water treatment center, there's Post-Lunaclysm Treatment - Power cost reduced by 50. as well as Dry Dynamic - Waste consumption cost reduced by 25. ;)

I would contend that, provided both of those two upgrades are gotten, and adequate spare waste continues to build up, then at that point, it works fine. I still don’t think it’s as good as ice, but perhaps with enough farms all in a single sector, it could be better. I guess where I’d go with that, is, if you build with a plan to use that in mind, it works

I believe the sphere event was big thing event. Alternated crew dna indicated different person yet they said been working for long time. One conclusion on my mind, they have switched to other people from alternate dimension, different space time.

i believe you are right. I looked up self-similar. and it's talking about fractals. The multi-dimension/reality concept is HEAVILY leaning on that. as even in this one reality we see fractals everywhere. what's more.. it happened like four times! where you came across things that was your crew but not, or was your ship but not.

@@CharliePryor you chose for them to research the sphere from a distance after it swallowed a drone (?), but after the research was done it was said that the team’s DNA wasn’t actually corresponding to what it was previously, then you performed Naomi protocol and instead of wiping the team you let them back on board. So while they may have not rubbed the sphere directly they still were affected by it on the genetic level I guess. I wish old Medusae with its crew was still there so we could see if there would be any special interaction like that meme with two spidermen pointing at eachother

I ended up replaying the last sector to get the alternate ending, also to be more prepared for the final chapter XD Of-course, you'll need a manual save in sector 4 for this or you'll be unable to go back. ( Re-play chapter is rumored to not work properly and send you back to chapter 1... seems to be a bug for now ).

@CharliePryor the ship is also along with that, an exact replica of the crew from the 2nd system when you found the first sphere. Remeber how the crew got back to the ship and security systems said they were not the same people even though they were? I'm thinking it basically ripped their DNA and copied it into whatever that was and spit it out here.

@@CharliePryor i got receipts! It's not from a lost ship via vohle drive jump. IT WAS a sphere exploration event ON ANOTHER COMET! (the rocketanski comet) as seen from EP 5 IT ATE OUR GEAR! now YOU WANT TO TOUCH IT?! at 52: 29 you go to see the result of the remote survey of the orb. Then on Episode 6 "surface expeditions challenge our Bravery!" at 3:12 you learn about the Medusa having a crew swap. There is some serious multiple universes/time/space crazy shit going on here.

@@TylerJG921 You're right on it being a 2nd system crew swap thing. but it's not ripped dna and a copy. something about the Dohle drive is ripping into universes! Essentially being close, even close enough to pilot a remote drone, also yanked the ship out of this dimension and into another while equally replacing it with another group from another dimension.. How it got back to our dimension is quite unknown and I couldn't even guess. I just looked up self-similarity. it's a mathematics term and means "object is exactly or approximately similar to a part of itself". These are FRACTALS we're talking about. and a multi-universe/dimension would be just that, fractals with various but usually minor variations (hence the destroyed section of the Tiqqun in last sector). holy crap this game could have some serious deep shit in it if they wanted to. but they sadly didn't touch upon it all that much.

"BIO-ENGINEERING CENTER" is a pain in the ass. *SLIGHT SPOILERS* Nice game, loving it, on my fifth play-through as i restarted due to some bugs and such, no issue wasn't very far in. 5th times the charm, everyone's going smooth, all the way till chapter 4 then i build this "bio engineering center". This is meant to adapt the crew for conditions on remus over the course of 10 cycles... Sounds easy... na. Every cycle the "Bio Center" only goes up a single percent sometimes not even that i have noticed. This wouldn't be an issue for me tbf, if i wasn't forced into an against the clock situation where if i don't convert the crew before PIRANESI gets to REMUS its gg. Tried reloading and stuff and still the same. Very frustrating issue, lost all motivation to play now. ***the issue has been fixed now with the last update. Turns out that hotfix they did not long after launch was the issue. Completed it all a few times now since and no more issues.

@@Vasious8128 You're absolutely right about the names Romulus and Remus, the mythical founders of Rome. The Palatine is also a hill in Rome, and Vulcan is the Roman god of the forge. That being said, these writers know what they are doing so you can bet they were delighted by the double-meanings possible with the two biggest SF franchises in media history in using those particular names. This episode was just great, Charlie. I am amazed by the story even more than the logistics.

Romulus seems to be a good place to colonize but its too close to the star a lot like mercury Remus on the other hand is in the Goldilocks zone perfect for life you just need to adapt to it, I don't mind looking like a an avatar for once hehehehe

For the accidents, I assume this video was recorded in the first few days after game release, right? I am saying this since the devs pushed a patch that they had to removed quickly as it created side effects. Maybe those accidents was one of those problems in the first place. I have something else to say but since it is spoilers as you have not shown it in the video, I will keep it for the last video, unless you find out before :)

I'm not sure if it's exactly what they're talking about in this game but self similarity is a concept in mathematics that talks about how things at a distance might seem to be different but when you zoom in close enough they are identical or at least "Similar". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-similarity?wprov=sfla1 As for the genetic Conatus bit; that's talking about how things that are alive or at least sentient will always try to continue to exist and improve themselves...it's really old term, essentially talking about the "will to live" and I'm surprised to see it being used here, because its concept has been essentially replaced by later schools of thought en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conatus?wprov=sfla1

Hey buddy, here is an alternate endings: Chapter 5 Path A - Visit Remus. - Meet the Ashtangites. - Research and build their new building. - Ignore the comms about Romulus planet and Edden being a liar. - Adapt your whole crew (10 cycles) and finish the game. Path B - Do not start the Remus event. Just go park at it and collect the science. - Send a probe West of the star, discover Remulus and send a Science Ship. - The P.A. will tell you that the crew is traumatic and having hallucinations and that Remulus does not exist. - After a while, you will get two different communications as events in the Tiqqun. - Following these events, you will eventually disable your P.A. Edden and be able to interact with Remulus. - Follow the Remulus line to finish the game. Path A & B - At the very end, when you are asked to fly Tiqqun into the Piranesi, choose the “Replace Edden with Protagoras’ AI” option.

The accidents are likely due to you having been playing the pre-release version for a while before switching to the release. They seem to have effectively been turned off for a fair amount of your run.

Pre-release terms, or I suppose, how it is supposed to work, is that “Optimal” work conditions removed the threat of accidents. They changed this on release, and definitely borked it with a patch that came right as I recorded this video, yup. I waited a day for them to reverse it before the next one. :)

well once you look up what self similar means.. this game could have been heavy philosophy and heavy on the science. instead they just went soft science (simplified material to end product chain, not explaining the vohle drive system, etc) and poked around with philosophy. Either way still cool.. wish they worked more on the lore of the game and the world but.. oh well.

When they said to remove eden, my thoughts immediately went to the PA you have stored from the protagorus, named Valhalla. Maybe if you remove eden, you need to be able to replace her, and Valhalla might be just that.
