I think we’re about to get a fly everyday while Charlie plays with his sweet new camera. How lucky are we?

Really been enjoying watching you tie up some of the classic patterns, nobody better to learn from, and nobody better to be teaching it. I know you’re staying busy, and it’s just a matter of time before everybody is back on the water, but keep uploading my friend!

Nice tie. Great pattern. Immitates a ton of stuff. I like the way you pinch those wings. I’m gonna give it a try. See if I get less stragglers. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent fly and instruction! Growing up on the West Coast and learning to tie in the 70's patterns like these traditional East Coast patterns were the ones we learned to tie. I still tie these for nostalgia and this Adams pattern is still viable anywhere. A real plus is I always seem to learn a better way to tie a pattern I think I had a lock on. Hope you do more of the oldies......

I got a box that has nothing but Adams Dry Flies in it. It's one of my all-time favorite dry flies. I catch a lot of fish on it too. It's a go-to for the Blue Line Brook Trout fishing I love so much.

Found a mayfly in my room after my dad came home from the creek. Brown body but silver wing and tail, an adams would probably make a suitable choice for the current hatch regardless

@@chadmann2724 That might be the spinner stage of a Blue Quill,Quil Gordon or a Hendrickson. Depending on where you are. But yeah an Adams would no doubt put you into fish. Looks like nothing yet is looks like something,

Del Mazza used to tie all his Catskills flies with hen hackle as well. He liked the wide profile and softer quill which he said it would not cause the light tippet to twist while casting. Nice tie, Charlie.

I’ve got to learn some hackle techniques. I’ve yet to actually make any hackled flies yet. Even a simple bugger. Although I did attempt to make a hackle collar on a micro bugger but every time the hackle would slip out of the thread wraps.

That is a sharp adams. Although not the first fly I ever caught on it was the first dry. Timeless classic. Edit: was the first fly I ever attempted to tie until I realized I bit off more than I cam chew and tied about 30 zebra midges 😄

Well tied and a story well told. Practice to master this pattern and you can successfully tie 80% of everything else that's out there.... well maybe 77.325% 🤣 Take Care

Hi Charlie. The videos are fantastic . How about in deference to the late great Dave Whitlock, maybe add a near nuff sculpin to the rotation. Thanks

This was probably the fifth type of fly and the hardest that I learned to tie when I was starting out. It took many tries before I got one that looked like the picture in the book. I think I still have that first decent Adams fly in some random box around here. Needless to say, yours looks perfect. 🙂

I learned that two color tail trick from you! You are the king of tying tricks! What do you think about tying the hackle stems between the wings to keep them separated?

I like your adams version. Too many purists spend way too much time on the wings with cross crossing and figure eights. And of course the front end don’t get wrapped with a head as they leave space for the Tyrel knot. (Of course nobody knows or not too many people know how to tie that knot that uses cat gut for tippet ). I think I just found a new method thanks
