Do carp eat midges?

I've seen them feast on Trico spinners (#22-#24). So if the food source is plentiful they'll eat it. I'd bet they eat larva as they grub around on the bottom. But they're pretty opportunistic, so why not throw a small leech on a better hook then try to get them on much smaller midges?

Absolutely. In fact a lot of their bottom sucking is for midge larvae.
