@nellie2581 She moved to the United States as a teenager and had to adopt an American accent in order to be able to play American. Just like Diane Kruger (who is originally from Germany) did. I guess the accent just stuck after a while. She has expressed that she is still very proud of her South African Roots and still speaks Afrikaans.
