Hi Alan it’s not rained that much here so I have watered them a few times, I think the mulch has done a better job than I expected as the soil was moist & damp under the wood chips . Thanks for the info.👍🏻💗🤠🙏

@nickthegardener.1120 Жыл бұрын
Hi Fiona it’s amazing how much difference there is between the two and about 6 feet difference between them growing. I think the Swift seed were rubbish. Got the Charlotte from a garden centre and Swift from wilkos.👍🏻🤠💗🥔

Hi Ady so far I have come across 1 hole in the potatoes and think that it was slug damage. Maybe it wasn’t wire worm to start with?👍🏻🤠💗🙏

Potatoes look great. I have followed the same method this year so fingers crossed I get the same results. With the moles pop a bamboo cane in the ground and put a coke can or milk carton on the top and the vibration will put them off to other pastures.
@nickthegardener.1120 Жыл бұрын
Hi Emma I’ve tried the stick and can, the mole ignored it 😂 I’m leaving him alone, his poo will fertilise the plot. I’m happy I had no issues with the potatoes and they’re a decent size,I hope yours do well.👍🏻💗🤠

Super clean !!! So why or what do you think affected the other ones ? Pretty great harvest on 7 plants !! Cheers J&C 👍🌱🤠🤜🤛
@nickthegardener.1120 Жыл бұрын
Hi guys the Swift I bought from wilkos, a cheap shop and I bought Colleen and Charlotte, kestrel and sarpo Mira from a garden centre (better quality). Swift also got frosted 3 times. Possibly me mulching with fresh grass didn’t help by burning the foliage. I had already had 2 meals previously before harvest so super happy with the results.👍🏻🤠💗🙏🥔

@nickthegardener.1120 ahhh ok cool. I remember that know. Hey, do you know anything about soil born disease with them and other root crops. A lot people round here are nervous about it with potatoes, garlic, ginger etc. ? But I have no understanding of it ?
@nickthegardener.1120 Жыл бұрын
@@clivesconundrumgarden hi guys my understanding of soil borne disease is that it’s in every soil already and it’s environmental conditions that activate them. Mikes potatoes got blight because the weather conditions, temperature and humidity were right for it. Try to mitigate one of those conditions and you should be good.👍🏻💗🤠🙏

lol. The moment you start digging with a tool, you stab a potato. (I know that feeling) The 2nd plant had some nice size ones. If possible, save the 1.5 to 2.3 oz ones for replanting. (42 to 65 g) You ended up with a nice harvest. Did you happen to weigh them?
@nickthegardener.1120 Жыл бұрын
Hi Steve it’s typical stabbing a potato. I will definitely save some for seed, I haven’t weighed them yet but I can do. I’ll weigh them today and get back to you.👍🏻🤠💗🙏🥔
