There's something so melancholy about this, the way she smiles almost sadly as she begins, like she loves to dance but wishes she wasn't confined to the box and the length of the straps that let her fly. The way she conveys that emotion makes all of this even more beautiful.

It's actually a lot easier than dancing without the ropes.. (probably the wrong word as aerial is not at all my domain, I'm all ballet) as there's a lot less weight put on your feet. But it's very beautiful, yes.

I remember going through my “chubby” phase of adolescence hating my arms and thighs for being thicker than the other girls’, hating everything about myself. I had these unruly, greasy bangs, raw knuckles and calluses, and I was a tomboy trying to be pretty. I didn’t realize that my legs were strong from practicing my moves over and over. I didn’t realize my arms were big because I could do more pushups than any other girl in my class. Even as I went on pointe, I was always restricting myself, driving myself crazy trying to be the ballerina in the box when what I wanted was to swing through the air like a madwoman and show the world how strong I was. I wish I had seen this video back then. I wish I could have seen the power in her arms, the flexibility in her legs and brought that to my dancing. I hope there’s a powerhouse pointe princess that sees it today.

milk and cookies straps are what the aerialist is this video was using. Silks, (Aerial Silks/Fabrics same thing) are two long pieces of fabric hanging from the ceiling that you climb and do tricks and drops and stuff on.

How lovely 💖 glad you enjoy watching Charlotte's performance.

The strengh, the elegance, the power, the way you feel the music, the message of this, the EMOTIONS of this routine are amazing ane I can't find words to express how perfect this routine and the way you dance it was. I never saw ballet and aerial mixed together like this and it was a pure masterpiece. I didn't even know that you could do aerial with pointed shoes like whaaaaaat?!?! That was wow. Just wow. The emotions that this video makes me feel are unspeakable and I want to thank you for that and mostly tell you that you are as elegant and strong as anyone (* any ballerina/aerialist) can dream of. Even if you cant take dance classes in a studio there are multiple videos that can you teach you routines or ballet barres or whatever you want to do. If you want to do it GO FOR IT. Your parents may be holding back in the traditional path to dance, but you dont have to follow that path. If it is your dream, do everything you can. Ps. Miss Auti’s and Kathryn Morgans’ (depending on the type of dance you want to do) youtube videos are amazing and got me through quarantine lol GOOD LUCK!
