You design the pattern the horse does and the music way before the horse show. Like dancers they practice their routine before performing (showing) it.

The thing is though, her riding is not great. I’m really surprised Carl and Charlotte don’t make her sit properly, considering how perfect their seats are, and how wrong Lottie’s is. She always looks down, her curb is always too tight, and difficult elements like piaffe she just can’t ride properly, especially Everdale, where he actually gets croup high (!). She seriously needs to do her homework and polish her position in order to be respected. She’s only where she is because of the quality of her horses.
