But I’m still excited to watch Charlotte do her thing (only if she stays true to what she is passionate about) and I do LOVE her will I buy it videos and you don’t need that videos to keep me in the loop but also not to buy. I totally agree! I was a sucker for foundation and concealer, but let's face it they aren't miracles and the formulations really don't differ from one another...and the same goes for eyeshadow and every other cosmetic on the market! Unless there is a miracle in the bottle or any other fancy packaging, I will not fall for the hype!!! Makeup is not revolutionary when you think about it! But I do love makeup, especially in pretty packaging!

The irony of me watching the occasional beauty content is I don’t actually do it to learn anything about the makeup or for recommendations. People’s preferences, skin types, ages etc…. are all wildly different so I don’t think reviews are honestly all that useful 🤷🏻‍♀️ Plus, I have my favourites already and know which brands I veer towards. It’s more about the personality of the creator and something light and pleasant to listen to while I get ready in the morning. For me, I don’t really care if somebody isn’t covering the newest concealer.

I am so with you on the Tom ford eyeshadow quads. A few years ago I soent a fortune on several quads and was so underwhelmed. I was shocked that these were so hyped and really couldn’t figure out why. Fast forward a few years later I finally threw them into the bin realizing there’s no sense in keeping them. it think it really depends on our makeup style. i gave away all of my natasha denonas and pmg motherships because i realized that bold, pigmented looks aren’t my style. i do love tom ford especially the wet dry formula palettes because they gleam rather than sparkle. they’re just so subtly elegant on the eyes, which is generally a more popular look in asia (i live in japan).

I’ve seen the videos of those 2 creators she posted and their no buy list is really inconsequential when it comes to their content. For example one of them said she’ll stop buying notebook, pull on sweaters, specific colour of lipsticks, etc. Not really her main content, so I think it’s pretty safe and I don’t think it really affects her content.

I love makeup and lean towards the high end brands due to the color range (more realistic ones) and I’ve found my skin (usually) is less reactive to them. However, a little over a year ago I found myself in a health tsunami and my face and neck started over reacting to all makeup and some skincare. Doctor advised I stop wearing makeup for six months to be fully recovered. I won’t lie, that was hard. And when people saw me without makeup, the comments of are you okay, you look so tired, etc.was hard not to feel deflated. But I focused on my overall health goals and ignored the comments and went makeup free. Revamped my skincare. My health has recovered so I’m ready to dive back in to makeup. I am a minimalist in most things in life and have successfully been quite happy with less. As I dive back into makeup, I plan a more minimal approach and use products I truly love, that last once applied. As I went through my makeup, I realized I had so many things still I wasn’t crazy about that were like new. I donated some to a woman’s shelter and they were THRILLED. I also included a huge stash of samples that I receive when I order from Sephora. I learned of a very hard working older lady that her only way to earn money was by weekly yard sales. She finds things discarded, fixes them up and sells them. I asked her if she would like makeup, skincare that is still good, barely used. She said yes. A follow-up conversation, she now has people that come back regularly to see is she has more makeup and skincare to sell. So in our abundance, let’s help other women succeed. Knowing I’ve helped others feels better than a whole face full of high end makeup ever has. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited I’m able to start wearing makeup again. But I’ll continue to cycle things out that aren’t quite right for me right away so someone else can enjoy it.

I have plenty of everything. The only thing I'll be buying is skin care and foundation products when I run out. I'm giving up trying to find the "holy grail" foundation for my mature, combo (very dry/oily) skin. There are no miracle foundations for that. I have gone back to using some color corrector and concealer for light days, and my CoverGirl matte BB cream. It's a perfect shade match and it works as good as anything else I've tried or tested. Since I like to change my makeup looks with the season, I put away certain blush, eyeshadow, and lip colors for those off seasons. When I bring them back out, it's just like getting "new" makeup.

I feel this on such a deep level. I always think this next foundation will be my perfect one, but once they're all on the skin they don't look all that different from each other unless it's matte vs luminous etc. 25 plus foundations later purchased JUST last year definitely left me questioning what.the.heck. I was thinking. Especially when like I said they're not all that different and shade is really what matters most. I defintiely may need to take a step back from watching beauty content. I never spent beyond my means but when I look what what I spent and how much I bought that I can't use up it has me feeling..not great.

I will admit on pricier items I do want to see a few reviews from creators I have similar taste to, I do find them helpful and appreciate the time and money you put into them so I can save my hard earned $....or splurge said hard earned money! I think this year I am getting strict with my fragrance purchases, I am like you (although I have never met such a scent gobbler like my skin is). I will no longer blind buy anything and will wear the fragrance I am interested in for a day before pulling the trigger. I know some niche scents do not have samples and that's too bad because I am off the blind buy. With that said I am throwing down a challenge Charlotte, Bianco Latte within 15 minutes after 5 or 6 sprays is a skin scent on me! Thanks as always for great content!

To me, I have categories that I get excited about (and buy too much of) and products that are just functional. Just functional to me are concealers, powders or brow products. I only buy those when I run out of them, but I don't get enjoyment out of them. Lipstick, mascara, eyeshadow palettes and perfumes ❤ I do use for the pure enjoyment. So I purchase way too many of those. Time to slow down a bit. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Charlotte I don't know if you've seen Babsbeauty's review on the YSL blushes but most of them aren't matte or flat at all they're in fact very luminous. I usually only by cream or liquid blushes & even I'm tempted to buy these 😊. I'll be buying my skin care this year but I'm not going to buy anymore foundations, concealers, eye shadow palettes (maybe a few singles of shades I don't have or like the finish of for the wow factor) & bronzers (unless a cream really tempts me) or blushes (unless a cream or liquid I really want gets released in the UK)🇬🇧. I actually really wanted that Makeup by Mario loose powder but it hasn't came over here 😮. I won't be buying fragrances either - I have a fair few bottles of full sized scents that I love & these of course, for quality, are costly. As a combo girl I will need to stock up on my one size setting spray! Please wish me luck, 🍀 I turned 40 today 😮😊!

Am currently on a low buy year myself. Understand its your job to review new releases and will continue to watch those videos as I trust you to be honest as to whether or not its worth buying but I've definitely had to unfollow a few content creators because they don't seem to have an issue with overconsumption and love to act as if every new release is a "must have" when that is not the reality! I love this video. I'm with you. I have enough of the basics (and then some) to know what works for me and what doesn't. That said, I haven't tried the Tom Ford primer... I guess I'm just not thrilled about spending the money. I think the Tatcha liquid primer is pretty good... sometimes, I just use my moisturizer as a primer, to be honest. I just don't see much of a difference. I also use the same powder and setting spray that you use (when I use it) and feel the same as you do about it. That said, if you are in a really hot climate in summer and need something stronger, that One Size setting spray is strong and works better to help makeup from falling completely off my face (even though I do have dry skin, it's a toss up). I also love your demeanor and sense of humor and that is what I tune in for more than anything truthfully. Plus, I can be a basic girl like you and love my neutrals so we have a similar sensibility with makeup. I appreciate you telling the truth with this video. I also am going to try to NOT buy much makeup this year because I have plenty. :) We'll see how it goes. I can get weak.

I really like and enjoy your videos Charlotte 💛. I am a makeup bag girl too, too much makeup drive me nut! I always use my favorite makeup products and try a new one when the product is discontinued or reformulation lol. I play more on eyes products (except mascara) and lip products, I am not a fan of eyeshadow often bronzer in the crease + highlighter on mobile lids. I am more in the different type/color of eyeliners and lipstick, lip balm, lips gloss. Omg I love this content so much! ❤😂 it’s like basically me pep talking myself while I organise my makeup or, when choosing which makeup to take on holiday. There’s simply too much to choose from (from my own stash) and eliminating game is too hard. That’s when you realise how many OGs you own! And then it’s like ‘girl, what are you still looking for’ what other miraculous product you’re hoping to find. I literally have top 3 of OGs in every category, some categories more. Good luck with your no buy! Sounds like you really know your preferences, which is good. I'm undertaking a replacement only no buy for 2025, and probably 2026. I have more than enough in every category for at least 2025, and the plan is to downsize my hoard of products, along with everything else in my life that i've over-purchased. The only makeup I can see myself needing to buy in 2026 is mascara, and maybe eye primer. Other than that I have enough to last me the next 5-10 years. Skincare I'm pretty on top of, so i'll need to buy some at some point, and the rest of my life is going to be spent reading the books I already own and haven't read (700-ish), and using up the tea i've purchased that's been sitting in the back of the cupboard being neglected. The only thing I can see that's really going to be a concern is perfume. I've kind of fallen down an arabian perfume hole recently, and I bought 7 new ones, and have a wishlist 21 perfumes long. 😅 My plan this year is to really focus on using my perfumes and try and get the numbers down. I have lots of samples and 10ml minis that need to be used, which will really help with my inventory numbers. Something I'm using to keep myself motivated is a points system. Every time I declutter or finish an item, I get points that can be "spent" when I bring new items into my life. The plan is to stay in the positive by the end of the year. 😊

I have resorted to the fact that I need to stop buying powder as well. I only use it under my eyes after concealer, and I DONT NEED TO SET my concealer. Looks so much better when I don't and I need to embrace the fact that it is a step I can skip. I also plan to stop buying / trying brow products. I found two I like, and need to stick to it. :)

I am using up the foundations and skin tints I already have before buying anymore. I have also stopped buying liquid/cream blush/bronzer, i just never use it, except CT Pinkgasm wand, that is a must have! I do struggle when it ccomes to lipstick and blush, they all want to come home with me 😂

I don’t like loose setting powders having dry skin, I also find them quite messy. If anything I use a pressed powder.

Huda, loose powder in two shades. Pat McGrath pressed in all three shades. Charlotte Tilbury pressed. My face will be powdered for a lifetime… just saying

I’m on an extreme no-buy for 2025 and it’s already killing me 😂. My teen daughter turns 15 this month, so one more year and she get her license. I have to save every penny this year to buy her a car next January. So no makeup, very light skincare purchases, no dining out, no splurging. For me, it's got to be eye shadow pallets, primers & foundations. I love eye shadow pallets and have plenty already. Any new releases, regardless of the colour story, I will already have something similar in my collection, somewhere, and similar shades all look the same to me when blended on the lid. The rest is how you put it, only if it's something exceptional and revolutionary.

I went on a wild ride trying to find the perfect primer and I’ve never used anything since I found (Jane Iredal) HOWEVER I did purchase the Tom Ford on sale at the beginning of the year 😅 i haven’t tried it just yet but, I did try it after watching you rave about it for the last two years. Less hair and makeup products in 2025. Mostly for the same reason as yours. After many trials and experimentation, I found products that I am happy with. I need to use them up before purchasing any others. So unless there is a particular “revolutionary”product that I can’t live without, skipping new purchases will be easy.

Roughly three years ago I swatched all of my eyeshadow colors (imagine swatching all my REDS, BLUES, PURPLES, etc.) as a lark and it had a profound impact on my makeup purchasing habits. Once I saw that out of 60+ palettes I had 70+ PURPLES, 60+ BLUES, etc. I had a really hard time buying new eyeshadow palettes. And while I love sparkly multichromes, they are pretty much the same from brand to brand over the small area of the eyelid. The first year on, I think I bought at most 5 palettes. Year 2, maybe 2-3. Year 3, I can't get excited. ANd it absolutely spilled over into other categories. At this point, I'm making maybe 3-5 makeup purchases a year, if that. And I still have more that I know what to do with. Who knew that a bored Friday night would lead to a multi-year low, now no-buy.

Try perfume over Cerave Healing Ointment. It’s like Vaseline but has ceramides as well. No scent. Helps fragrance last and last. (I live in hot, humid environment and only wear light, fresh, citrusy fragrances at work so I don’t overwhelm patients, but they only last 5mins, now I know this, they last all day.)
