It’s weird how someone you don’t know, have never met and will probably never met.. can enrich your life so much. Thanks for some of the best rock’n’roll records we’ve ever heard Charles

I had never seen or hear him so young, humble and candid, a genius unbound, a true rock'n roll hero (in my appreciation). Not a weirdo.

Wow best insight into Pixies songwriting from Frank Black. In another interview he mentions the accidents that they seek as a band for excitement.

Wow. This initial question is now one of the most hilarious (and ironic) questions in history. "So Frank, after the 300 songs you have previously written, I am getting nervous that you might not be able to write any more."

It's just watching over whelming ingenuity in this.. so.. normal -- dare I even say insignificant -- looking person. And I don't mean this as an insult, more in a way that I wouldn't look twice passing him on the street (not a bad thing). I find that impressive an very genuine, admirable. It gives me hope for humanity and maybe even a little bit for myself.

The way I remember them and if you look at the audience, there wasn't that many people checking them out back then. you couldn't find a pixie's fan if you tried among music people because most people thought they were punk or never even heard of them! 😂!

Bowie wrote in the same way a lot of the time. Putting words that just sound good together and the meaning comes later.

Yo, what a great pro tip: just play G together until "it feels like you're driving a car" to warm up as a band. I do that as a solo guitarist but NEVER thought about it that way in 20 years of playing! Perfect metaphor 🤌

Does he make the "poetic structure" before the melody, though, or is melody part of it (just without words)?

melody is part of it. he wouldn’t have separated structure and chord progression from the vocal melody and cadence. it all goes together at the same time. words are different though and he said he did those later

Adrien Koo I don't think so. I think he was purposely fucking with the interviewer for asking such a stabby question in the beginning of the interview. Black was probably just stabbing his ass back by purposely giving the interviewer false info with an oddball attitude.
