Did you see the German bluray set its amazing and comes in English audio too. I didn't know if another version would be released and I have the Australian book of shadows set so I'm going to put the blurays in it. The Australian book of shadows version has a coin battery and the insignia on the front lights up when you pick up and move the book.

The German Blu-ray set is gorgeous! The only issue is that my entire collection is in Region A for Blu-Ray and I try to keep it consistent because I’ve had issues in the past with different Blu-Ray players. It’s ok though because I have the Region 1 limited edition Charmed Book of Shadows DVD so I get to enjoy Charmed in modern and retro fashion 😅 maybe I’ll make a video with the DVD set as well😄 It’s similar to the Australian set but it doesn’t have the lights, which I’ve seen in someone else’s video and they look amazing✨Putting the Blu-Rays in it is a great idea!

@@manicmediadream I don't know if you are a Buffy fan but the HD remaster has been awful a real shame. I'm glad Charmed filmed it for wide-screen so they could give us that extra picture years later. In Buffy it was filmed in wide-screen but was never intended to be seen that way so turning a square into a rectangle you lose so much of the picture

@@GAZMAN2002 I’m a huge Buffy fan! The HD remasters on Disneyplus and they’re so bad lol. Like some night scenes look like daytime and I’m always like ummm… why isn’t Angel/Spike burning up rn? And then when I watch the DVDs, the lighting makes sense for the scene. There’s also random crew members here and there in the remasters from what I’ve seen in clips so yeah totally agree some shows should be left in full screen instead.

This blu ray set is a lot nicer than the dvd complete series I have. Mine has the series divided into two thicker cases that hold 4 seasons each. It's more of a hassle having to unbury discs. I'm probably going to upgrade to this set now that I've seen that it has each season in its own case.

It's totally worth it imo. The DVDs are great too if you wanna go for that 90s feel (I watch those when I miss how the show originally aired), but the Blu-Ray version makes it feel like you're watching a high budget movie in episode format. They did a really great job with the remaster. I hope you love the set when you get it!

I heard all the original theme music in opening credits/ for season 1-7 & 8 has different music I think because original air that way along with 4x3 aspect ratio of first and second DVDs released

The original opening song (How Soon Is Now?) is there for Seasons 1-7. Season 8 has the same instrumental song that the final season dvd has. All other music used in individual episodes is present in the blu-rays.

Not strange at all! I totally get it tbh. The Blu-Rays do have a Play All button and kinda make it feel like streaming but with the original music sometimes.

Yes the original theme song and music is there in seven seasons. The eighth season has all original music, but has the replacement theme song.

Kon'nichiwa! Always a pleasure to meet Charmed fans from around the world ✨ For the audio, the Blu-Rays are in Dolby Digital 2.0 or DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 depending on the season so unfortunately no 5.1.

It does have the pilot episode Something Wicca This Way Comes. It unfortunately does not have the Unaired Pilot starring Lori Rom as Phoebe though :( that one is only on the bonus disc of the book of shadows complete series sets.

Can confirm the Blu-rays are fixed. There were reports of Season 3 glitches/skips and I just checked my set and there aren't any issues. The original music is on them except for Season 8, which still has the DVD version of the theme song. Other than that, all of the original music (theme song or background) is intact.

I would say Blu-Ray. The DVDs are pretty good if they're in the Book of Shadows edition because it comes with a bonus disc and some spells. But the Blu-Ray is REALLY high-quality so I think that might be a better deal.

@@jeangrey2788 oh it’s all good. Any kind of Charmed is better than no Charmed haha. Personally, I prefer both editions for different reasons. The DVDs are great cuz that way, I can watch the show the way it was meant to be watched: in the 4:3 ratio with that old school grainy look. It’s so comfortable like that and it makes me feel like I’m watching it for the first time. For the big screen, I watch the Blu-Ray because they worked really hard on the upgrade and it shows, very unlike the Buffy Blu-Ray upgrade which was more of downgrade. But yeah the DVDs are amazing too!

I just have one question: is season 2 still wonky? I tried playing the individual release on my PS5 but it couldn't read the discs, did they redo them for this release?

I feel like they did redo them for the complete series blu ray release because I tried my Season 2 discs in my Ps5 and it works just like the others. I know there were issues with the individual releases from Amazon (Made On Demand), but the quality on these is definitely different because they’re directly from the studio.

Hi there, great video. there is debate whether these blu ray discs are burnt or pressed. Are you able to share a photo of the bottom of one of the discs? Based on CBS i understand these are made on demand and not mass produced. Usually MOD are burnt blurays and not pressed, but im seeing different people say different things, but it should be easy to determine when looking at the bottom of the discs. Thanks

I’m currently traveling so I can’t share a pic of the back of the discs, but they’re not purple which I believe is the case for MOD discs. The discs found in the complete series Blu Ray box set are the pressed ones so they’re authentic. Back in the day when it was a per season release, only season 1 was pressed but the rest were MOD. There should be no issues with this boxset in terms of MOD compatibility issues with some Blu-Ray players imo

I got the complete charmed box set this same version on DVD for Christmas back in 2021 but I'm pretty sure the special features is the same as the DVD version I'm not going to get the Blu-ray set it's the same thing anyways 😂

Valid. The special features are the same except for a new interview with producer James L. Conway in HD and other than that, the blu-ray version feels more cinematic than retro/nostalgic like on the DVD set, but I have both the DVDs and Blu-Ray and depending on my mood, I switch back and forth lol.

Hi,i've just received my season 1 and already watched the first épisode, first time blu ray woaw ,when phoebe, in the attic read the book of shadows ,the night ,blue lightning,and yellow part windows , colors etc so beautiful vs dvd there' no doubt about it.can't say the same thing about some movies , blu ray are awful than dvd's,it depend on the version sometimes it's a lotery .i'm french, here it's still on tdt some season 2,3 episodes , between buffy's episode but it's often the same episodes every day +lot of commercials i can't stand 😁. The french voices are not so bad ,but i need to hear real voices .so it's more easy to me with french or at least engish subtitles ,some expression,or when there is long and quick spoken sentences i need to rewind sometimes ,yes ,the book of shadows dvd version,look so cool,but there's two version of it i read that the other version wasn't so good because taking out the dvd's of their sleeves,risk of scratch and some glue ? You'better put you dvd's apart in a box when it happen etc . Thinking of charmed 1/4 century ,time flies so fast ! Yay! Congrats getting Season 1 on Blu-Ray ✨ It's such a good season and I actually really like the Blu-ray menu for it. I wish they did something similar for Seasons 2-8. The blu-ray quality really is amazing. The episodes look like well produced movies on the Blu-Rays, but the retro feel of the DVDs is pretty awesome too 🤩 Yeah commercials can get really annoying haha. I watch Tubi sometimes because it has a good selection of tv shows and movies from the 90s like Charmed but sometimes the commercials are frustrating 😅 Yeah the book of shadows that scratches the discs is the smaller version where you have to slide the discs out, but the bigger, limited deluxe one, they were similar to a dvd case so I got lucky with that one. Ah,ok i'm surprised ,that the season 2 Blu Ray have english subtitles,ok it's cool .yes ,with the DVD's some éditions sometimes have issues ,i have some doctor who Seasons ,the DVD's are likely the one of each over, the plastic IS fragile ,and then You have your DVD's moving inside the plastic case 🤣 grrrr ,yes i'm a fan of" the Avengers" and the New Avengers ,a 60's 77's britain TV show , unfortunetly some of them 77's haven't been remasterised ,they put on dvd almost the vhs quality ,and exception 3 épisodes of différent season are on Blu Ray i ordered it from England ,and the 77' on Blu Ray (,just only one épisode of 2 seasons ) when i put my Blu Ray on 🙏,, even some black and white Era épisodes from 60's on Blu Ray whoooaaa 😊 but i'm ok with You ,the DVD 's are charming to .thanks for your response too . Man, I'm so jelly of this and the Book of Shadows DVD version you have lol. I've wanted the book version for years and years but it's so expensive plus I'm in the UK so shipping costs are also a factor and the Blu-ray boxset is pricy for me atm (and I'm not 100% sure if my player would be compatible). It's kinda annoying how the season 2 blu ray discs are printed pink like the first individual release of it but the case is the classic orange and how all the other season's discs are plain. Also how the Season 3 boxset 'spine' doesnt have an image and they don't all match perfectly. I'm weirdly obsessive about that stuff, it's silly haha. Like here, the complete 1-8 DVD box sets are just not that wow. They have two versions that are all just all black, one that has the discs from each individual season boxset in cardboard sleeves that look messy and one that's just two plastic volumes of 1-4 and 5-8 that have plain discs. Neither come with the bonus disc. There is a wooden chest version that holds each individual season release which I always wanted but that's pricy too and quite bulky and then there is the ultimate box set that holds four volumes, with the sisters on each different one, 2 seasons in each and that does have the bonus disc but it's hard to find one in good condition on eBay and it looks kinda unofficial to me somehow. It's funny you say you prefer the season 7+8 R2 version cause I always thought the Region 1 s7 and s8 images were nicer. haha. I thought the sisters looked really pale on the yellow season 7 boxset. anyway, I'm rambling about first-world problems, Think I'm just gonna buy the cheap plastic version for now as I've been streaming it with the different music (sacrilege lol) and then get the blu rays one day. I’m glad you enjoyed! The wooden chest set is gorgeous but yeah u’r definitely right it’s mighty pricey. There are a lot of inconsistencies between the different seasons production wise. Season 1 definitely got the best treatment with the cover, discs, and even episode menu (it’s the only season that has a video menu, the others have a static image menu), but Season 8 is packed with features. The best selling point of this set imo is just how incredible each of the episodes look in HD, the fact that no one take them off of a streaming platform and prevent me from watching them lol and that fantastic cover of all four sisters. Ever since I was younger, I always wanted an official image of the four of them together from the studio. Also, I really enjoyed reading your comment. Yeah, since this was a made on demand release they literally just stuck the individual blu-ray releases in this set with new cover inserts. Season 1 was a worldwide release, then season 2 they actually originally released it on Burned BD-R discs, there were errors and people demanded they fix them and burn them on pressed blu-ray discs. There were also issues with season 3 so replacements were sent out for those. It was just all a huge mess lol Still some error's here and there in some episodes (mouths not moving when lines are said, missing vfx etc.) but overall it's just great to have the show in HD on blu-ray

That makes so much sense! I remember following a Charmed HD and Blu Ray page on Facebook and so many people were complaining about BD-R discs and scene jumps. I’m glad they fixed it. Haven’t experienced any issues so far thank goodness but yes it’s awesome to have it on HD. The quality is unbelievably good and makes each episode feel like a cinematic experience hehe

HD remasters ruin TV shows. I'll take the original SD versions in 4:3 every time. Altering aspect ratios and updating special effects changes the show and it isn't the same. Plus there are reports these Charmed blurays have issues. I'd never buy them I'd only buy the original DVDs.
