Eight seasons and a lot of characters who brought a lot to the table made Charmed one of the most beloved sci-fi series of all time. In this video we explore all the powerhouses in Charmed and rank them by their power.

Phoebe was definitely supposed to be a powerhouse. But plot kept holding her back. One thing people always forget is Phone was the only Charmed one with powers from the womb (Though, Penny probably wouldn't have known if Piper had her powers since they were the same.) Additionally, Prue had her powers for like 10urs before they were bound whereas Phoebe was bound from birth. I'd bet that why she was so far behind. But, in the first couple seasons her premonitions were definitely growing in strength the fastest. Later, when she got the power of Empathy she was incredibly powerful in the short time she had it. By the time the comics roll around (which I know weren't counted) Phoebe was a beast.

Wrong, she wasn't supposed to be no overpowered, she is the 3rd born both Prue and Piper is stronger than her, the 1st born witch is always the strongest stated by the show itself

@@Anthony12.3 Depends on how you measure power. Frankly the longer the show went on the more ridiculous the scaling got. The three were always meant to be fairly unstoppable - since without that hook the show is over; but it does present a challenge to create realistically powerful evil characters to counter the bond of the three - without nuking the lot of them. The point of the stronger together (Power of Three - other than being an actual Wiccan thing referenced as Celts tended to like Trinities; it's even part of the Celtic Knot) hook was that they were each uniquely powerful in their own way. It did not matter who was stronger, or it should not have. They all had insecurities about their individual abilities or the ability to learn how to wield them properly. Prue tended to have the natural knack of just figuring it out, while Piper was spread fairly thin in her divided responsibilities, but kept trying until she got it. At least in the beginning, Phoebe's powers were the most wild swing, and fairly much passive. They may have been the most useful to guard against the dangers coming; but they were also entirely open to the Girls' interpretations. (Which is one of the problems of doing a power like future sight - it IS powerful, but it also gives the plot away. So they tended to jumble the images to make it so that the audience wouldn't just know what was going to happen) Prue's more direct blasting ability had the raw sense of power as she was the most offensive, but overall and for sheer reliability, Piper's time freezing was an amazing crowd control feature. The powers grew into a jumbled ball of we can do together, whatever the plot needs us to do. That's not even counting the whitelighter children. Or the pregnancy Phoebe had that I'm pretty sure either got retconned, or yeeted out the window in plot. I lost track about the time they introduced Rose Mcgowan, and frankly I don't really regret the lack of a finished out series to my base of knowledge. (Final point; because Phoebe was willing to share what she saw and took the time to piece it out to her sisters, both of the "more powerful" ones knew what to do when the time came, to have the advantage on the playing field. So they could make best USE of said better powers - without the forewarning, some of the battles may have gone extremely badly for them) ** No, Phoebe was boned down by a beast; then gave birth to the number of the beast (for a Rosemary's Baby call out = relax guys, this is just a joke, and possibly a song reference)

I agree, for me it also looked like they wanted to make Phoebe the strongest sister but something changed on the way. Precognitions IF controlled in the right way can be SUPER POWERFUL - nothing can surprise you, you can predict movements in hand-to-hand to avoid them, you know exactly when and how to except an attack etc. That's why when someone with those powers appears on sci-fi/fantasy tv shows he/she is either unable to control them or that person has them usually only for a few episodes (death, loosing powers), it happens LITERALLY on every show with those powers. Examples? Heroes, 4400, Agents of Shield, Arrowverse, Smallville, even here. With each season Phoebe was using this power less and less until it was taken away from her in s6. Also think about all possible advancements of this power like for example: - visions -> astral visions -> astral projection in space -> astral projection in time, - mind reading -> mind controlling, - empathy. In fact you can basically connect all mental powers with this one and it would make the sense. But clearly something ended on the way and that's why in s3 Phoebe got randomly levitation which didn't make any sense and would fit Prue's powers much more and I think that they realized their mistake - that's why since s5 Phoebe was able to use astral visions and in s6 she got empathy. And then creators realized that she's getting too powerful and they took away her powers because they didn't know how to write stories around it.

Rumor has it(this is come from all the Charmed underground chatter back in the day, interviews, narration from DVD series, etc) that her premonition was suppose to grow like the two Seers. And her levitation was suppose to grow into her flying. Alyssa Milano (by her own admission) requested to stop being hoisted up in those wires. Her turning into an Empathy & channeling others powers was another extension by Brad. Alyssa requested that be taken away. And when she was burned at the stake in S2 - gave us insight of another (planned) new power for this character.

Paige is missing. She is a powerhouse, too... Not only she inherited Prue's powers, she was also half whitelighter. With her the sisters didn't need a car or something like that to be at a certain place in time. She orbed out during several and otherwise deadly situations, she developed her powers as quick as Prue did except healing... and she put the family back together twice, especially taking the lead when Phoebe turned evil and Piper became as nervous wreck. She should've been an honorable mention as well as Phoebe who was also a powerhouse. So much, that it inspired Prue to do some martial arts as well.

If the angel of destiny can actually WRITE destinies; I might agree... however if they are only the GUARDIANS of any given destiny, you get a bit more leeway. A very small bit. Because the point in the battle between order and chaos - and magic in general as far as the show is concerned, would be The Balance. Maintained. So it's not that the angels of Destiny are necessarily more powerful, than they are guarding something that is in essence, the balance of the chess game. Since no one wants to lose = no one is willing to wipe the board by offing an angel they could otherwise very easily defeat. As I said below, it's not about the scaling of power. It's about understanding how best to use what powers you do have. The import of a rank, can be more significant than an actual "power" level. But again, a lot of the time the writers would write themselves into corners and then be like, Uhm... how do we get out of this now? Oh, I know... New Power! Also, if the charmed ones really were the most powerful force of good in the world: They should be at least number 2 on the list. Maybe 3 tops. There's also no real point in singling Piper out. She gained said offensive power because they hadn't gotten to the half whitelighter sister yet, and their only "offensive" magic user was permanently downed. Which was an adaptation of hey, we don't really want to end the series here... but we can't rely on the Power of Three with only 2/3rds of a Triangle. Piper could also be argued more or less powerful because Leo was feeding her power unconsciously while they were together. [Which with how often that seesawed in the timelines before I dipped out, really should have just been left at Yeah, we're married. Done. There's NOTHING you guys can do about it] There's the fact that while she was carrying two children, her powers could have grown by housing them. Whitelighter powers were never that clearly explained, so it's a potential out. End of the day this list didn't go nearly as I expected... and I'm not sure I'd call it clickbait or not. Some of the rankings felt a little Gimme-like. [And the Tall Man was literally JUST a meta internet popular reference at the time - only they couldn't call it Slender Man lol]
