CHARMING Last WALLED VILLAGES of Hong Kong

These people WALLED themselves inside their own small lawless cities and villages for centuries, and NO TOURIST could possibly go there back then. Now, a few tourists show up now and then. Who knows, maybe these walled villages of Hong Kong will become very famous tourist attractions? To go here is certainly one of the things to do while in Hong Kong. The two cities I visited was Kat Hing Wai and Tai Hong Wai. Join me exploring this part of the city of Hong Kong. The last walled villages and cities of Hong Kong. Fascinating street life in Hong Kong for sure.

You can come to Guangdong, there are many many villages with these styles 😂 Especially Guangzhou, with their highly claustophobic urban villages in the Haizhu district like 客村 and 赤沙村. These are the traditional cantonese village house i suppose, and I am going to rent one of them soon!

@Sandven Explorer thank you for the video. Please allow me to fill in some more details of your walk the 'Charming Last WALLED VILLAGES of Hong Kong. Kat Hing Wai, Tai Hong Wai plus other villages nearby are related. They are the decendent from the same ancesters. The walls were built more than 500 years ago to protect the villagers from bandits. The original villagers are the direct decendent from a Song Dynnasty Princess back in 1278. During that time China endured civil uprest the Princess took refusage nearby7 and subsquentley married the indigenous local man. The Tangs have steep history and even up this day they still celebrate all traditional the Chinese Cultral Traditions and festivities.

Sandven Explorer Very unique. Even as recently as WWII the emperor, Hirohito, was considered a deity. Very odd indeed. Please try to find out if, in Japan, they teach their children about Nanking in the late 30’s, Unit 731, Comfort Women and the innumerable atrocities carried out by the IJA. That would be fascinating.

people were run away from the [man chu 胡人] from the north invaded mainland south. 嶺南【雅粤 雅越】 華南 The [ man chu ]( after ruled by the 匈奴） invaded the central main land佔中原後。people of 宋明後民，escape the execution run away to the 嶺南，南越國accept the refugee , so they were the call the 【客家 】visitor to the 南越國 ( south region) when they first arrival, because they were in competition with the people already settle down there, so they build house withe the wall area village 圍屋, this is very common in the main land, because in Hong Kong they were face less hostile, that is why you see people settle down in remote place were village 圍村 without a wall to keep away attack from the local. this normally have a 土地公 to indicate the entrance of the village . your clip show圍屋is a big clan from 明 ming dynasty. connected with two princess .
