Finding out that roasting your vegetables makes them delicious after having been fed boiled veggies for ages really changed my perspective, winter 2020 I basically lived off of roasted brussle sprouts

Relatable af! I think i'm the only person in my family who prefers roasted veg tho, my family always wants it boiled and it pains me lol

Big same. My partner and I both grew up eating steamed veggies, and not liking them at all. When I became an Adult™ and started cooking for myself and my partner, I discovered roasting or grilling veggies, and eating the veggies that are in season, it was 100% a game changer. We devour vegetables now, and have them with just about every meal. ❤

The difference is really something! Not only boiled vegetables, but unseasoned boiled vegetables. If you got a little salt, pepper, and butter, you were lucky.
@bhaalboy Жыл бұрын
Not only that - it wasn't until I was an adult living on my own that I realized that I could just season and cook veggies like meat. Roasted (and slightly charred) brussel sprouts with sweet and smokey bbq seasoning is SO addicting.

I like cold broccoli salads of all kinds. Most time when I'm having broccoli as a side dish, I let it cool after blanching, and just drizzle it with olive oil and lemon juice. The dates sound good ... kind of a riff on deli broccoli salad with raisins. I have cheddar and dates, so will give this a try.

Ah one of the recipes I've made before! My fam wasn't a fan of the dates, so when we make it now we use cranberries or raisins but it's sooo delicious. I love heating it up and melting cheese cubes w spice in it so it gets an extra kick, literally such a great dish to play around with. I made it once with your pork and beans recipe and would pour the leftover pork and drippings into a bowl with the salad and create the best lunch combo fr lmao. Literally my fav canvas in broccoli salad form.

Charring raw broccoli is a game changer, I made this when I got your first cookbook and wow, so yum, now I also char some lemon halves and add a little lemon to it, kinda inspired by your other marvel, Broccoli D ( Delight, which was so good that my bf stole half my plate when I first made it). Also totally recommend finding Marcona almonds online for this, they are an incredible snack to have around as well.
