I have a Charter Arms AR7 which I bought new in 1976 for $89. I carried it as my back country backpacking carry weapon. It’s still in great condition and I do some target practice with it now and then.

Thanks for this video. I just inherited this pistol from my dad who recently passed away, and it's a goofy gun without much helpful info available.

My dad has one of these. I didn't know it was suppose to be unreliable. It didn't seem to work any worse than the ammo you put in it, and back about 20 years ago seemed to perform as well as the Ruger 22 that we have in respect of jamming etc. Maybe ours was just good and we lucked out or something. Sadly, like the rifle mentioned, these two weapons were neglected, staying at my father's night stand for some time, and looking at them now, I wouldn't dare try to fire something out of them. Fun looking pistol though, wish I had the scope.

Wow, the barrel incompatibility ruins the guns. An Ar-7 carbine would just be perfect with the little 8" barrel. The ATF bootlicking wasnt manditory but Charter Arms decided to do it anyways. Failure from the start.

I briefly had one, once. Worst ergonomics ever at least for my large hands. Back bottom edge of the trigger guard would rap the middle knuckle of my middle finger. BTW I had the silver finished one. I also had the actual rifle. Ran okay with better ammo like CCI Mini mags but not the Wally World Federal Lightnings. That gave feeding and occasionally a double or triple. No not feed but a double or triple fire. I figured it was from the lower powder levels not quite engaging the sear and disconnector.

So I have a question, I have seen the AR7 new in sportsman's warehouse, recently and in a gun shop, new as well. Who is making them now? The two I saw are Black and mostly plastic stock. Thank you in advance, and I enjoy your style brother! Keep it up! We need you guys!! World is getting crazy!

They are being made by Henry now.

Henry Repeating Arms makes them now. They have reworked them a bit and they are better now. They are more reliable and have more features. I will be doing some videos on them next month. And thanks for watching and the kind words, I agree, world is getting crazy.

I bought one recently and it will not load the ammo, it just kicks the shell up, I took it to a gun smith to see if he can fix it, if he can't I will put it on a shelf and look at it lol

I have both AR7 and the Explorer. Never had any issues. Would like to have another. I try to get doubles of everything to pass on to the kids.
