I triggered a lot of well-meaning people by referring to my Nintendo DSi as a Gameboy. Apologies everyone! And yes, I was running the KORG DS-10+ synth on it.

I’m always impressed by how you manage to do so much with just one or two pieces of equipment. I’m still very much having to fight that maximalist urge to do a million things on every track and never finish anything.

That urge is the hardest thing to deal with, I swear. Sometimes I have to remind myself that less is more.
@kaitlyn__L
@kaitlyn__L Жыл бұрын
@@Npakaderm for sure. I keep wanting to layer more subtle variations on the synth patch or stack a chord full of extensions and I have to keep reminding myself to scale that back and save it for big moments. Also sometimes sound design can get your perspective skewed. The other month I was trying to make the beefiest saw/PWM patch I could with intermodulating LFO resonance, LFO phase, overdrive, etc, and kept going “no… it needs to be fatter!” Nevertheless I recorded noodling around for 10 minutes, then when I came back to it a couple months later I was like “jeez this is thick as treacle, you can hardly tell the chord as it is, this is plenty fat enough!”

'Art is never finished, only abandoned' - DaVinci. 'All art is knowing when to stop' Toni Morisson. Tho tbh i kinda admire ppl who can fit a million things in a track.... i get to like 6 tracks and im like...... nothing else can fit XD Also, never forget that art is not a product, its a process. & Music is a communication game. You play music, you dont produce it.
