Hey neighbor!!! I have access to MRPs, URPs, and C1 Miles and I never book directly with points (miles),.. I always transfer to partners during transfer bonuses only. I mostly transfer to Hotels, especially to Marriott and Hilton. Very rarely do I transfer to airlines partners.

I like that you maximize your pts/miles. Sometimes there isn’t always a bonus for a transfer. My travel isn’t dependent on whether there is a bonus, if it’s there it’s a nice-to-have, but I’m not married to that option since I sometimes travel using non-transfer partner accommodations. Any sometimes transferring the pts is a worse proposition, for instance with United, let’s say I get 1.3c/p with a transfer, I’m always gonna beat that with the chase travel portal since I have a Sapphire Reserve

Remember, AMEX Business Platinum gets 35% MR points back after booking flights; so the net price cost of the points is much more equivalent to those of UR Chase points. Also, no matter the points system, transferring the points to directly to the airline is almost always a much better way, returning up to .05 per points and sometimes even up to .08, .09, or .10 per point on business class and first class flights. Paying for flights in the travel portal (even with UR Chase pts) is probably not going to be the best way to get the highest value from points, Chase or AMEX.

I agree about the biz platinum 35% points back, but that wouldn’t be better than Chase basically giving you 50% points back if you reverse engineer the math. I disagree with transferring to the airline. Login to your Chase portal, search a flight from anywhere to anywhere, find the best flight operated by a transfer partner, open that airline’s app to find the same award booking, i guarantee (unless there is a transfer bonus) it’s going to cost way more points with that airline’s miles than the UR points. And All of the transfer partners for Chase are 1:1, so they treat is as an equal value exchange when it isn’t. If you don’t believe me, in the video I did the round trip flight to Poland, do that same flight as an award booking for both United and Lufthansa, (I just checked) it’s not better at all to transfer for that flight. Getting .05 per point is not good. Getting anything less than .10 per point is not good regardless of fare class

I'll send you screenshots of my next airline redemption with points; when I price them outs solely for planning, they are often at .05 using miles within the airline site, as opposed to paying with points in the amextravel portal. Also, for the SLC example, the Delta flight was at 81,780 MR points, which 35% of that is 28,623 getting back, so the net cost in MR points would be a bit less points in Amex MR points, 53,157 Amex MR points (net after 35% refund) vs. 55,918 UR Chase points. This is actually better than "close"; it's higher value for MR points, with a savings of 2,761 pts compared to UR Chase.@@NobleCredit

@@thecondoleader for the SLC one, I will admit you have that one, I checked the current price and it has jumped over 20,000 points on Amex. The price on the UR portal has not jumped over 20,000 points. But with the 35% points back Amex would still be cheaper by 3k points. The Chase Sapphire Reserve is also $150 cheaper than the biz platinum so it’s technically punching above its weight class to compete. Now I’m just glad I have the biz Platinum for these Delta bookings, since that could be why it’s cheaper with Amex. Diversifying points is key

Man, I thought you were going with Amex since you get the military discounts and don’t pay for annual fees. Surprised actually, I’ve been thinking of upgrading my CSP to CSR for a while and do all Chase for a year to try it out. If YOU out of all people with the Marriott, Hilton and Platinum benefits still see Chase as having more value in sold on my change for the year. Thanks!

I (and all active military) get the Chase Sapphire Reserve and other chase cards for free as well due to the Military Lending Act. Don’t get me wrong, Amex benefits are amazing and great, but the Membership Rewards points are inferior to Chase Ultimate rewards points and I proved it in this video. If the math works out for you, do the upgrade. Sometimes people’s habits can make the sapphire preferred a better option, but I think the annual fee can be worth it for the Sapphire Reserve with not too much effort

Points-wise though, Chase gives you more for your spend. If you’re military, use both. Amex is better at some things such as giving hella credits, but you should be earning your points through chase to maximize money for travel

@@NobleCredit I’m team amex all day but i can’t argue that hyatt is chases best seller. That’s the only reason i keep my chase cards. Plus Its way easier to earn MR points then UR points. Simple things like gas and groceries isn’t even a permanent multiplier thru chase

The 50% bonus is automatic. The points cost should be less for Chase…. Unless you’re trying to book a delta flight in Salt Lake City or something then the points could be kinda close

It's a lot easier to get MR points thou. Lots of options every year with no life language. You can't do that with chase cards. And if you are just talking about portals use then yes. Feel like this video should be named who's travel portal is better. Good break down of the better option of portals.

While you’re not wrong about obtaining MR pts, the only downside to getting Chase points is no grocery category, but the money you save shopping at Walmart for groceries far exceeds what a percentage point gives you in return. And if it was about which credit issuer can you obtain the most bonus pts from spend with then, you’d have to consider issuers that have even more robust categories than even Amex. Portals, I would argue, should constitute 80% of the weighted decision for one pts currency over the other. The rest of the decision should rely on transfer partners, and since Hyatt isn’t an Amex transfer partner, that is a huge L since no other hotel brand is as valuable, hence my 5th award booking from the video. There’s no reason to transfer points to a different hotel brand unless there’s a crazy good transfer bonus, otherwise you’d be better off earning that hotel’s branded points. As far as airline transfer partners, I can only give you Finnair and Scandinavian airlines, but even then you would have saved more pts using Chase’s portal unless there’s a phenomenal bonus which is possible

You can earn as many MR points as you want through Rakuten etc, but they’re not that much valuable unless you pay a $695 annual fee for the Charles swab version of the Amex Platinum.

The business platinum gives a 35% back bonus on award bookings, but you have to pay a $695 annual fee. Charles Schwab also devalued their MR points transfer which means they don’t even see as much value in them 🤣. Went from 1.25 to 1.1

The IHG will provide more value, especially with the Sign up Bonus, but the $325 travel credit on the Altitude Reserve is nice. Circle back for the Altitude Reserve or apply for it right after the IHG. This depends on the credit report Chase/US Bank checks, so you can usually look that up for your state. ihg card is also easier to get if you’re under 5/24.

But also you could pull the 5/24 hack off and do the Altitude Reserve first assuming you’re sure you’ll be approved, then immediately get the IHG card so that Chase doesn’t detect that you’re over 5/24. I have a video on that as well

People should do their own research. I have seen many service members use their Amex Platinums to show off and tickle their egos. They get only one point per dollar with the Platinum for their everyday spending. They do not understand trifectas when I mention them. They are unaware of how to strategize their spending and rewards.

Facts, that Walmart+ 10cents off gas hack that you just put me on is clutch! As far as using platinums and getting 1x back, it’s a huge L. You’re better off getting 1x on a CSR, because then it’s like you got 1.5x back. Even better off using an Ink Unlimited to get 1.5x back which translates to 2.25x when used on travel or more when used optimally with transfer partners.
