None of them are kiss asses to Link? The only difference between Revali and the other Champions is basic respect and jealousy. Urbosa, Daruk, and Mipha don't envy that Link's essentially the key part of their mission, where Revali is blatantly envious of the fact that Link has arguably the most vital role in defeating Ganon. I wouldn't say he wanted Link to prove himself necessarily either, or at least didn't want Link to prove himself because he thinks Link isn't going to succeed.. Because of his personality, he probably just wanted to feel like if someone was really going to be the most important part of their mission, they should be better than him. (Or, as Revali says, extremely lucky.)

@@RawPower867 i’m so incredibly late but imo urbosa’s was patronizing (unintentionally) while revali’s was condescending. they’re very similar but the distinction is that being patronizing can come from a good place (think like how a mother would talk to a child-obviously she is talking down to them in a way but not a mean spirited way) whereas condescension pretty much necessitates some level of distaste. i love both revali and urbosa but at least to me it seemed like urbosa’s version of talking down came from a place of care whereas revali’s came from jealousy and frustration and even dislike towards link

I really think if he had proper coaching, he could have done a lot more with the character. He was unique in his motivations, and he was Link's rival in essence. Sean is great, but he has to abide by the awful script. In his initial cutscene with Link, he had to say as much about his character in a very short period. I hate the writing of this game

Admittedly, Revali was the only Champion I cried over after freeing his Divine Beast. Yes, he was an ass to me all throughout the dungeon, but deep down I felt like he was really looking out for a guy he secretly wanted to befriend. Revali is actually my favorite Character in botw because I really love his character development. It might not be as apparent in the English version, but in the German Cutscene, his final words are something like "He is the stronger one out of the two of us. Link... you are the key. You've always been". Just putting this out there for the few people who were disappointed by Revali only talking about Link's luck lol. (btw I know this comment is like three years late but I just looked this up after getting to the Revali part on my like fifth playthrough to compare the voice acting and this just stood out to me)

Revali is the most complicated character in this story in my opinion. While others write him off as the mean jerk, A closer look at his lines reveal exactly how he feels. " Yet despite these truths, it seems that I have been tapped to merely assist you. All because you happen to have that little darkness-sealing sword on your back" This gives us the examination that he's jealous, but not completely self absorbed, as he clearly shows empathy and cares for his friends, especially when the calamity appears, you can see the fear in his actions, the fear of losing those who care about him. And he also seems confident in others ability, not only his own. He believes link can take back the divine beast, although at first it seems like he doubts link. So what I've come to realize, is that he's not an attention hog, or genuinely hateful, he's just lonely, jealous, and left out. While everyone else is a leader, or has astonishing power, he can only fly, and shoot arrows. And although that is impressive, it could never beat the magic darkness sword on Link's back. So, when he can, he uses his abilities to their full extent, to prove his worth. And in the case of Link, he holds the ability of flight over his head quite a lot, by challenging him to a battle he can't reach, and using his flight as perfectly as he can when around Link. So Revali is sad, and jealous. But that doesn't mean he's not condescending or rude. He is quite rude, but it's a mask to hide his own pain and jealousy, by bringing others down with him, but only those he feels are a threat. (So primarily Link) That is why Revali is the most complicated character I've known, and why he's my favorite. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I just watched the finished that divine beast and now Revali is my favorite character. I remember watching the first scene where he comes in (1:57), and I thought that scene was so good I stopped and loaded back up the game to watch it again. There's something about his personality - sarcastic, arrogant, stubborn, funny, but a slight mean (obviously because of perfectly understandable jealousy) that shapes in to being the amazing character that we all have recently begun to love. I remember right when I defeated the Windblight Ganon, and the cutscene rolled of Revali (10:17) and at the end I kinda had tears in my eyes because it was really sad that he died even though I knew him for like 20 minutes. Respect to Nintendo. They're creative and I hope they make more characters like him.

I actually recently connected with his voice actor on Tumblr and he's really nice and humble 😊 edit: I realize that this was the first comment of many that I would make of defending Revali on comment sections. by now my paragraphs have a lot more reflections and care, along with points defending him so it's not just praise, which is what you'd expect for doing it for 2 years. At 4:06 you can hear how gentle his voice is to Zelda, like he understands he doesn’t need to let his ego ruin his ability to comfort somehow bc of his own insecurities, I can imagine he really felt what Zelda felt as she probaly felt like a failure and revali probaly knows that feeling to well Along with at 6:00 you see how annoyed he seems, I understand him though. Imagine spending your entire life trying to prove yourself onky for it be thrown away because someone happens to have something important

Revali is easily my favorite champion. I adore all of them, don't get me wrong, but there's just something about that attitude and confidence of his that I just love to death. His voice acting is sublime, too!!

I think Revali's English voice actor is great. But I hate the way they localized a lot of his lines. They added a lot of bird puns not in the original, but the worst part is probably that in English, Revali says that after finally defeating Windblight, Link is lucky. In Japanese, Revali admits that he was wrong about Link, and says that he too is counting on him, and doesn't say Link was successful due to luck or anything, he admits Link just succeeded where he couldn't. I dislike how the English one takes away from the moment where Revali is actually honest and introspective by making him have sour grapes, and instead of beginning to entrust Link with his task, he just hopes Link continues to be "lucky" enough to succeed for everyone's sakes.

He was trying to get Link to acknowledge him, since according to his Diary entry he got frustrated that Link wouldn't speak to him or show any reaction at all to his Revali Gale move when he showed it off. Which he wasn't very sure of doing at the time because he hadn't practiced it very much at that point, so he ran the risk of it failing in front of Link...

Poor dude, if you look into his cutscenes it's really easy to tell he just wants to feel equal to the other champions, the others just got their power and he had to work his arse off for the gale. Not to mention the fact he has no bloodline involved in destiny, he was just a normal dude.

Fun fact: Revali is a.teenager as the adult riot doesn't have a spots on their cheeks and the teens and kids do have the spots on their cheeks. Revali is also the youngest out of all the Champions
