The thumbprint is brilliant and I’m stealing it. I work on paper right now, though I will paint on canvas if I can buy them on sale, but still developing my style. And yes, I get paint everywhere, so I need a space in which a mess is acceptable. You have an efficient system and organized studio. Thank you for sharing.

Galleries and collectors appreciate lots of images that help them get a better look at a painting that isn't available for them to see locally. My galleries will pass on these images to clients to help them decide if they want to acquire the work. Doing a short video is also super helpful. Be super attentive to all details of a sale: pricing, shipping, all details about the art, the gallery and collector info.

Thank you for the great tips. I especially appreciated your idea of putting a thumbprint on the back of your work. Years ago one of my former professors, Karl Kasten, had been asked by one of his collectors to help authenticate some Jackson Pollock paintings on chipboard that he had been offered at a good price. I begged Karl to avoid the task as Pollock is possibly the most counterfeited artist of all time, and instead I was dragged in to assist. We were able to verify two out of the several paintings in the group partly by stray fingerprints that matched those found in Pollock's studio, but it seemed the seller had gotten greedy and added several fakes to his offering - The chipboard used was not available during Pollocks lifetime. I had returned to Los Angeles when the drama in the Bay Area played out, but in the end Prof. Kasten retained his good reputation. For me it was a frightening situation but even at 91 years of age Karl was sharp and fearless.

Haven’t heard of it and will check it out. Are you familiar with Han van Meegeren? He painted excellent forgeries and had to create one during his trial for being a Nazi collaborator to prove the Vermeer he’d traded to Herman Göring was actually one of his fakes.

Chase thank you so much for your advice and great tips. I love your way of thinking. The word Elevate says so many positive things. And it does lift you even to say it it gives a sense of freedom and growth and everything that's good. The locking castors is a brilliant idea. And I love a place that's light and airy, whether to live in or paint in, I can't stand dark rooms. The brighter the better for me so I love l your white studio. Thank you I appreciate this video. @@ChaseLangfordArtist I have subscribed and I played this to my partner, with instructions on how to build my studio as I loved all your tips, aluminium poles for the shelves etc. So many good tips in there and he needed to see these things from an artists perspective, he is a builder and always thinks he knows what's best, (he usually does),but he does see things from a builders perspective so this was great. I love the views from your windows, I have the views of the Sperrin mountains in Northern Ireland, (Game of Thrones country), your views and the weather are very refreshing to see. Thanks again for this video, not just the building tips but the art tips are priceless, things I hadn't thought of, like making a book of your work, paint swatches, your ingenuity and sharing this with everyone is very generous and appreciated. Greetings! There's only been a couple of artists whose abstract work that I like. I find abstract art, usually, to be lacking in aesthetic beauty and it usually seems like a child could do it. Why should someone get money for something like that? But, again, there's been a couple of artists out there that have created works that I find very striking and that look like a great deal of work went in to making them - I have added you to that list. Your work is strikingly beautiful and looks like you actually put a lot of work into them! I can see the talent in your work! You deserve to get paid well for them! God bless!

I was very unorganised once when painting and the painting itself looked messy and muddy all because I was being lazy and didn’t place my paint in the right place to get at it! Love your studio videos! now i need to build an angled shelf lol. I prefer sandbags over bricks and rocks though, but thats a film studio habit having those around. Love the thumb print too! - Ive met several artists over the years who would put a handprint on the back of the canvas :)

Mr. Langford, do you protect the back of the canvas with a water resistant spray to avoid mold? and what kind of canvas do you use? also, if it's possible, is there a mockup invoice you may show us? Thank you again for showing us the what and the how. Blessings.

I do not spray the backs. I'm in a very arid climate so mold is never an issue. write me at chase@chaselangford.com and I can share more.

Due to the pandemic I was forced to convert my spare bedroom into a home office. Now that I have an option to work both at home and in the home office I was deciding on pushing the home office into a more creative-inspired environment ... as you so well put it a space that will "Elevate" me! All your studio tips are the best advice I heard so far. Thanks!

not rich, I'm just cheap and buy in bulk...lol. ;-). also I stock up so I'm never hindered by not having the right paints. I paint about 40 hours a week, then i have all the other art business stuff to do. It never stops but i enjoy it.
