A long election campaign needs a long desk. The Chaser offers a desk long enough to cover this year's explosive marathon with truly explosive explosiveness. The longest, most explosive desk. The Chaser's Election Desk.

That Craig Kelly comment on Clive Palmer being a menace to the parliament aged well.

I kind of miss the old days when the Chaser team consisted only of the original 5 members, well 7 actually but one left and the other was rarely seen after CNNNN. These new members just don't fit with their style of humor. But I suppose the guys have gotten older since the War On Everything days, and things always change with time, but still, nostalgia is a bitch for us viewers.

The recorder never sounded so good
@CaptainRed10008 жыл бұрын
The recorder gag was as much a test for the politicians as it was a test for the people actually watching the test. Tell me, how long did it take us to try and skip that segment?
@gracegorman33068 жыл бұрын
Skip it? Christ, I found it SO funny I've watched it countless times. I eagerly await your insult to my intelligence / sense of humour / life skills.

Interesting that the Australian party uses Labor rather than Labour. Bizarrely far reach of an Americanism given even Canadians use the British spelling.
@mhenr188 жыл бұрын
It's a quirk of the party's early influence by the American labor movement, and people were motivated to "modernise" the spelling. IMO it's understandable to want to make changes to the old way of doing things when you only recently gained independence. It's only with the benefit of hindsight that it's now obvious that Australia was going to stick with the British English way of doing things.

The Chaser's have sold out. It's become another watered down politics comedy with no real substance or subversive quality. The people added to the Chaser team seem more like good television personalities than people with genuine comedic talent. This is a sad excuse for the Chaser quality material of the early to mid 2000's

So lame. It's commentary without any soul. Just jeering, heartless cynicism, editing any footage to concoct some juvenile pointless joke. And the smug ambition of these presenters is made worse by how unnecessary and uninsightful this is. This 'gotcha' stuff really is toxic. Why not actually try to inform us on some issues, like Sammy J, instead of this ugly, relentless and spiritually dead quest to tear others down? It's barely highschool quality. Why do this?

They're comedians.

This isn't the fucking evening news dickhead! They're comedians. It's not meant to be a serious election coverage
@alexandermillar12028 жыл бұрын
I understand that they're comedians. My point was that their comedy is incredibly shallow and deliberately misleading. There's a really ugly undertone to it that is just determined to do anything to tear these people down - to insult, humiliate and demean them for seeking public office. It looks smug and desperate. It's not funny. People who run for parliament deserve our respect as well as our polite, reasoned inquiry. They dont deserve this sort of school-yard bullying. That's only puts off quality candidates and for what? So that miserable people can laugh at them being treated miserably.
@TheMAC0108 жыл бұрын
their comedians making a joke out of politicians , who make a joke out of the australian people . I think its justice for how they mislead and manipulate people to vote for their parties dont you?
@alexandermillar12028 жыл бұрын
TheMAC010 I dont accept that they necessarily mislead and manipulate and therefore deserve to be treated like bullied school children. I really believe that most politicians, on every side of politics, enter with good will, sincerity and a desire to make a positive contribution to society. How they go about this is open to question, but to savage them for just putting their hand up to serve our country is out of order. In fact it's seriously destructive to the social fabric. I'm all for good jokes, but we need to treat each other with a basic amount of respect.
