This is a super video. It spells out several opportunities for improvement, and helps clarify the need for the Circular Economy. The will is already there - most citizens believe they are doing the right thing by separating their trash. Education and honest dialog like this is needed to inform citizens of what materials are actually utilized and what is garbage (and hopefully generate support for change).

Are Plastic Prescription Bottles, Vitamin Bottles, Etc Recyclable? What about Glass & Plastic Bottles with the Labels stuck on them. Some of those I Soak in Hot Water or try to Peel or Scrape them Off (which is a Hassle & most of them Impossible?) Do you have a way to get those Off if we can’t? Do you have a Steam Machine to get them Off? I’m Furious to Hear that if someone ‘ELSE’ doesn’t Clean their Recycles good enough, then ALL of the 1’s we Clean get Thrown out. I Wash at least 60-90 Yogurt Containers a Month, + Plastic Water & Milk Bottles, Soda & Energy Drink Cans & if they’re getting Pitched because of Others NOT Cleaning theirs it’s just a Waste of the 1’s that People do Clean & Time it takes to Wash All of them‼️ I Crush my Bottles & Cans, are we supposed to or Not? I also Separated Everything (for your Convenience) & put them in Trash Bags so mine would get to the Recycling Center & NOT be Ruined by other Items from others that weren’t Cleaned. (I put my Card Board & Paper Items in Brown Paper Bags.). My Daughter Informed that we’re not supposed to Use Plastic Bags to to put the other Stuff in so she Dumps them out directly into the Trash Bins??? ( Well I tried to keep them from any possible Contamination from others⁉️) 🤷🏼♀️ I Live on Friday Harbor Island in Washington & it would be so Nice to Receive a List of what they do & don’t take? My Son-In-Law used to Work for the Town Picking up the Garbage & Recycles & dropping it Off…He told me that they don’t even Take the Recycles to the Recycling Place, they just take it & the Garbage to the Dump & get rid of it that way‼️😤😡. Not sure if that’s True or he was just Teasing me because I give them a Hard Time about NOT RECYCLING‼️🤨🤪😁

Walmart sacks and amazon plastic mailers can both be dropped off at Walmart recycling. The local recycling told me the biggest problem they have people still putting trash and dirty plastic or greasy pizza boxes. Not supposed to recycle greasy cardboard or trash bags here anyway and they ask all plastics be rinsed out first. Personally Im not so sure plastic is actually safe long term for humans. Lot of scientific debate on it. I believe we need to go back to glass for foods. 💯

A few take outs from the video regarding possible policies to mitigate plastic problem: - hold raw plastic producers accountable for the CO2 released when plastic is burned from the moment material is synthesized, because it WILL eventually, and perhaps even very soon, end up in the atmosphere, and that would be perhaps the least dangerous outcome, - use only clear plastic, and - only where necessary, - forbid any bespoke chemical or mixing modification to base material, but perhaps * allow finite number of registered modifications which don't hinder recycling or can be recycled in some standardized procedure. - Any labeling or graphic design (coloring or labeling) has to be made through optical nanometamaterial surface finishes, which are physical (shape) modifications and make no change in chemical composition of the material, instead of mixing in pigments or other substances.

What does the number mean as you said a package was different from the bottles in terms of plastic I am comfused it had a number so tell me what this means and why it is not the same substance
@vapeking4665 ай бұрын
Different plastics will have a number inside of the recycle ♻️ symbol. This number helps consumers to know if the local recycling can accept it or use it. Unfortunately many areas do not recycle many of the plastics used for me it's primarily #5 I have to pitch cause they don't recycle ♻️ it here.

Plastic film can be recycled, however not from your local streetside pickup. (Some)Clean plastic film (not saran wrap) needs to be separated in your own home. Ridwell will take plastic bags. And you need to be willing to pay to have Ridwell pick it up. So, do we need to have fines for package makers? I mean, this is crazy...yes, stop with the disposable plastics, AND stop telling people that things can be recycled when they may not. Let us DO get rid of recycling arrows.

Love your video I truly believe this problem cannot be solved. Everything has to do with economics💰💰💰💰 all trash will end up in a landfill or in the air or in the water .plastics will never leave if I put my cat litter in a plastic bag from the grocery store it will end up in the landfill. if I put it in a paper bag it will cause me more problems with leakage and still end up in the landfill .there is no recycling involved anywhere .The public will not recycle ,consistently, therefore you and many others in the trash/ recycling business will always have a job .and the trash business will always maintain employees.

Are wax-coated materials (like milk cartons) feasibly recycled? I fight with my wife about this every time one is emptied. I say they are not. Who's right?
@allianceofmission-basedrec6519 Жыл бұрын
Hello Rick, materials accepted for recycling vary by region because access to markets and your local recycling facility's sorting equipment dictate what can or cannot be recycled. Most recycling facilities do accept milk, juice, and other cartons. But it all depends on where you live and what industry is buying when you toss the carton out! It’s best to check your local recycling guides.

There are a number of solutions. What common household garbage concerns... ALL bottles are brown, no other colors. ALL metal cans are made from aluminum, no steel. If manufacturers don't like it GTFOOH !!! Plastic is the difficult one, but banning expanded polystyrene (chips) or expanded polyurethane (plastic from a spray can) is a good start. I have seen perfectly good packing material made from wood pulp (like egg cartons) which is very recycleable. Then, plastic bottles ONLY clear polycarbonate (Coke) and milk bottles HDPE. Unfortunately it is not as simple as that and the only long term solution is to use less of everything packing material. Many years ago, there were dumpsters in strategic locations where people could pre-sort their garbage... no more, at least in my area.

Waaaay too many products in the supermarket and warehouses, too many people on the planet 😅🎉🎉🎉 we are what we manufacture 🎉 whether it’s plastic, glass, metal, etc. Maybe they are just being too fussy with the recycling 🎉, bet ya, takes them far too long to get rid of the stuff, fucken burn it, or recycle it or bury it, because the longer it sits out in the open, the more of a risk it becomes. 🎉

You say “this plastic is not recyclable” but what you meant to say is that “this plastic in not PROFITABLE to recycle”. STYROFOAM CAN BE RECYCLED PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE RECYCLED ITS JUST NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!
