Absolutely breathtaking video! And the rain seems to have actually been reaching the ground. I remember driving across 40 a few years ago, and we could see the rain falling, but it stopped before it hit the ground--apparently it was evaporating before it even hit. When we drove through it, we only got a few drops on our windshield. A day I'll never forget. I just love Arizona (when it's not 110 in the shade, that is)

Nice video. When I was a kid my parents would drive us from SoCal to Ogden Utah to visit my grandparents. Some times we stayed in St. George when lightning was going off over Zion. The bottom line is that I like lightning and want to photograph it. I was planning to take a trip to Tucson this year during monsoon season but Covid-19 changed my plans. We don't get a lot of lightning up here near Salt Lake so I know I will need to go south. Awesome video. Love the timelapses and photos. Nyall

Another great video. I would like to suggest another location for monsoon rains if you haven't already been there. If you go up to Payson, Az. and take the turn towards show low, you will be brought to the turn off for Willow Springs lake. Take this turn and you will be headed back towards Payson on the rim road. You are now on top of the mongollon rim. For quite a distance you will be right on the rim, the vistas to the south are incredible and the monsoons come every day. This road will take you back to jus above Payson. Its only about an hour and a half from you.

Forget the heat, forget the bolts, it's those damned ants that are deadly! Back in August I pulled up to 'The Hill' at 83 and Sahuarita Rd, jumped out of the car, and started scoping out the sky. After about a minute I felt a tickle on my shoulder blade. That was the bite. It was quickly followed by a sting. Then one on my leg, and one on my butt. Looking down, I was standing directly on top of a boiling nest of harvester ants! They were all over my pant legs, both inside and out. I did a nice little dance, cursing and slapping at the stinging horde. The buggers got me in about a dozen places. The actual pain wasn't too bad, but the subsequent swelling and itching went on for a week of misery. Little monsters!! In over a decade of chasing, I've never managed to stand on an ant hill. Until now! Sheesh! ;) I used to chase up by Phoenix and I8 west, but like you say, the temperatures can be so miserable. And with the lovely Sonoita area just 45 minutes from home, I usually default to heading SE from Tucson. Nice channel, and some awfully nice photography! :)
@PereaPhotography Жыл бұрын
Haha I know exactly what you mean about the ants. I’ve stood in an ant pile but was lucky enough to see ants on my shoes before they got me. But man they’re always there in the places we pull over to shoot for some reason! Thanks for watching!

Just 109 degrees. Are you guys Arizonans or not? Not allowed to complain until triple digits. Reminds me of my favorite line from the movie “Dune” which I will paraphrase: “ is to train the faithful.” Check out “Night Manager” on Amazon Prime if you like spy thrillers. Not perfect but enjoyable. Just came back from Hannigan’s Meadows via Clifton/Morenci. Storms all over the place.
