In May of 1953, John M. Prophet III attempted to pace a NYC passenger train while filming it on his 16mm movie camera. This video will give you a better understanding on how he was able to accomplish this.

Terrific video. Thanks for taking the time to synch all of this up. I wasn't aware of John M. Prophet's contributions to railroad history before discovering your channel. This man's name deserves to live on!

Thanks for sharing. My favorite place to watch NYC and TH&B trains was where old Ontario St dead ends. I see the old grain elevator was still there. Miss those walks with my grandfather.

I work near Dick Rd and Broadway Avenue. I take almost every lunch by the Forks Fire Hall. I believe this is where John's video ends. It is amazing to see how quickly Broadway looked rural back in the 1940's! Thanks for all of the great videos!

I'm glad you enjoyed them. When John told me about how he paced trains on Broadway, I HAD to go out and try to find exactly where he did it. I got hopelessly lost because so much has changed since the early 1950s.

The first time I head it, I thought it was an overdub. I got quite the education after making that statement.
