Today's video is all about my slightly chaotic but totally memorable day trying to visit the world's biggest Buddha at Leshan. Spoiler alert: I didn’t exactly make it in through the front gates, but who says you need conventional entry to have a great time?
So, the park was already closing by the time I got there (yeah, timing isn't my strong suit), but I didn’t let that stop me. With a little creativity and some local help, I found an even better spot across the river to take in the views. The sunset was absolutely stunning and made for the perfect backdrop to the giant Buddha-definitely worth the hustle.
Oh, and I met this super friendly taxi driver who not only helped me navigate around but also shared some cool local stories. We had a blast just chatting and taking in the scenery.
So, sit back and join me on this unexpected adventure where things didn’t go as planned, but turned out pretty amazing anyway. Sometimes, it’s all about the journey, right?
Hope you enjoy the video!

Hope you enjoy your trip there. This Buddha was built at the confluence of three rivers. The monk built it to protect the people of Leshan from floods. Besides, Leshan is also famous for its variety of street food.

It’s hard to say really. Many are original from the Tang dynasty (c713) but a few new statues and sculptures were added in the Qing and Ming (1638-1912) dynasties but like any site of this type in China, a good amount was damaged and vandalised during the cultural revolution so there seems to have been a lot of work done since to restore and preserve a lot of the site.

@@ramblingbard Like Leshan Buddha, historic sites experienced weathering, natural disasters, wars (from ancient times to the ww2) and vandalism over the years; however, Leshan was actually not damaged during the cultural revolution. There were other historic sites that were protected and were not damaged during that time period.

There is one Chinese Internet Proverb "You are so powerful, when the Leshan Giant Buddha meets you, he has to give up his place to you.😂" it means ridicules others and likes to stand on the moral high ground to accuse others and ask others, and standing and talking does not hurt their back.

The whole Sichuan province, situated in a large basin and crisscrossed by rivers, is covered by mist for most of the year.
@Sfran_
@Sfran_ 5 ай бұрын
Mist is common in Sichuan Basin but Sichuan basin is only a part of Sichuan province😅. Sichuan's terrain is complex and diverse, including the Sichuan Basin, the Western Sichuan Plateau (Qinghai-Tibet Plateau), the Hengduan Mountains, the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, and the Qinling-Daba Mountains. Highly recommend to take a look at the topography map of Sichuan.

Unfortunately, you missed the opening time. The Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area is really very very very large, just like the real Godzilla. Only watching it on the spot can you know how shocking it is.

I have seen every video of you, and I like it very much! Of course, at first I saw a video of someone moving you, and then I found it. I also left you a message, such as not having to go to Beijing, because it is very boring, it is now a political center, and there are many restrictions. There is nothing to see except the Badaling Great Wall of the Imperial Palace. Many ancient buildings were destroyed in the mao times. There are many good-looking, fun and delicious places in China, but they are never in Beijing. Personal opinion. Welcome to China and enjoy a wonderful journey!

To be precisely, It’s called traffic and crowd control. After all, it’s the most visited area in China. There’s a daily visitor admission cap to the Forbidden City, better to be prepared, especially during holidays. In case you are unable to get a ticket, go to the top of the hill in Jingshan Park to overlook the panoramic view of the entire palace. On your way to Jingshan Park, you will see the iconic northwest corner tower of Forbidden City and the moat surrounded by willow trees. In my opinion, Temple of Heaven is another landmark in Beijing and I like its unique architecture style and cultural significance.
