Chasing the Toledo Hauler: Portland & Western

The annual railfan event known as Winterail occurs in early March in Corvallis, OR, and is a good excuse for many to chase the morning run of the Toledo Hauler east from Toledo to Albany in western Oregon state. This train follows old Southern Pacific tracks that wind and climb through dense forest scenes. The slow pace of the train makes it a long, easy chase. We caught the train just outside Elk City and chased it to Harris. Enjoy!

it's actually the toledo patch did you know that it's actually called the patch

Half correct, the Toledo hauler is the train that goes to Toledo, the patch is the return trip. The hauler used to be just one train that did the whole run in one go, which was possible due to the higher track speed but it had to be divided into two trains when the track speed got lowered.
