I am enjoying your videos. I grew up in Benton Arkansas, but bird hunting was not something my Dad was into. I went into the USMC at 17 and then got saved at 18. After the Marines I went to Bible school in Chicago and was invited during that time on my first duck hunt. I fell in love with it. But I have never had a chance to follow up on it until now. I have been a missionary in the Philippines and now for the past 27 years here in Germany. I finally decided to get my hunting license here in Germany (21 Day crash course for 3,000 Euros!). So at age 58 I am trying to sharpen my calling skills and looking for a few opportunities to hunt waterfowl here. I was recently invited for some jump shooting and I took two geese and a pair of Mallards. It got my blood going. I like those Bible Verses at the beginning of your videos. May the Lord use your videos for His glory.

The only thing that beats flooded timbers is duck impoundments with corn planted in them. This is the best kind of natural land to hunt in. I got to go in flooded timbers one year and it was really fun. We saw 15 wood ducks. That may not sound like a lot to you guys out west but we live in South Carolina. We have no ducks here. That was a lot for us.

@@ChasingGreen If you ever want to take a hunting trip to South Carolina find somewhere private to go like a hunting club or apply for an adult draw hunt on a wildlife management area. Public land here at least in Berkeley county sucks. Most places here get hunted on an almost daily basis during duck season. On a good day you’ll se at most 10 ducks which is a very small amount. The only thing we have large numbers of is Canadian geese. 30 years ago when it wasn’t over hunted it was great. My father used to go out when he got home from work for a few hours shoot his limit and come back. Unfortunately out area has became very popular and now there’s no ducks.

This reminds me of one of the most memorable hunts iv had out west. We were mid day scouting and found a tornado cloud of birds working an area. We actually sat up on them mid day and limited out. 4 man limit, mixed bag. Awesome that you guys got this on film! Proof of your duck tale. 👍🏻💪🏼

Been tough for us in South Texas brothers. Me and my brother have seen the best and the worst duck hunting the last few years. We been hunting for 30 years in South Texas and the last few years has really been tough. I like your channel because y’all are showing what poor boy duck hunters go through to have success these days. I really believe the limits should be dropped because we can’t even hardly kill limits but a hand full of times during a season. 10 years ago we killed limits every time we hunted on public land. I don’t know what is to blame. Warm weather, ice eaters up north, refugees, or if the fly way has just changed due to food availability. I don’t know. Glad y’all got on them brothers.
@ChasingGreen
@ChasingGreen 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah our past 2 seasons have been rough to. I think many factors have played a role, weather probably being the biggest. I dont think much can be done about but to move north lol. All our ducks definitely stay in the rest areas more than they used to for sure and are more nocturnal. But who knows, if we get some weather next season and slay its definitely not a limits issue.

Dude that was just the spot they wanted to be in amazing display of birds, I hope to see birds in these numbers one day, duck hunting for me will never get old as I have grown older I realize that it is not just killing, but it is the experiences that I have grown to like more than just the hunt, I’m only 16 and believe it or not went on my first duck hunt when I was 5 ( picture proof ) the things that happen in the wild are insane, I had a history lecture the other day talking about, if History is true, my professor went on to say that if there is no evidence that it happened, did it really happen? I responded with “we’ll time obviously passed so something had to of happened” and that’s kind of my reason to go hunting, you don’t really know what will happen on any given day, this is what inspires me to get out there with friends and go sit in the middle of a flooded forest without anyone else within 10 miles, nobody knows it happened except for you. That’s the beauty of it in my eyes. That’s your very own proof or evidence that something this beautiful and jaw dropping can occur without you even knowing. I appreciate you sharing this memory with us, I have history to look forward too you know, hope this history repeats itself.

Man I like watching yalls videos. Not trying to beat you up and I’m all about writing parking tickets but Jump the birds up before y’all shoot, you will cripple a lot less birds doing that. Even the ones that fly off from a water swat will eventually die sometimes. I’ve been hunting these birds since I was old enough to hold a gun up. My great uncle and grandpaw taught me what I’ve learned over the years so I learned from old school hunters/killers that stomped the grounds around Monticello. I live in south central Part of the state and I hunt all the nwr’s and wma’s pretty much like y’all I just go where the ducks are. Maybe we will run into each other sometime if we haven’t already haha. Good luck this season man 💯🦆

Only one shooter and 100+ birds finishing and only one bird is killed so 100+ birds educated over one bird. You have 3 shells in your gun with 4 mallards and a pinny finish, but you wait for the mondo wad so you can educate them. hum sounds about right.
@ChasingGreen
@ChasingGreen 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah those 100+ birds went about a quarter mile and sat down and we shot them the next day. We spent a lot of money and walked a long ways, we wanted to get em and we wanted to land the whole group because that's what we like to do. Go watch northern videos of mojos in the dry fields. Theres 1000s getting educated. Ducks are gonna get educated. That's part of duck hunting. We could complain about how were at the end of the flyway and they've been educated through every state all the way down. Were the last stop, yet here they are dumping in the decoys 🤔
@destinshipley6916
@destinshipley6916 4 жыл бұрын
I understand birds are gonna get educated but why try to educate them if it can be prevented. If your a good enough shot not saying I am but take 3 that are sitting on the water in front of you instead of trying to finish 100+ more birds. That's why public land sucks for times then not bc people do stuff like that. It's greedy but that's my opinion. it was an awesome video tho
@ChasingGreen
@ChasingGreen 4 жыл бұрын
I can get that point if view for sure, and theres times we do let the big groups go. We raised though on the big groups, that's what duck hunting is all about. We spend all this time and money, go out there and have a good time. If you enjoy the big groups, shoot em. If you want to let the big groups get out I get that to. If you could get everybody to do that it may even be better. Like i said though watch any dry field hunt and you will see duck hunting universities that the ducks go through lol. Definitely get your point of view, just not sure how much of an effect it has nor I dont think its greedy. But its definitely a good conversation and thanks for bringing it up
