Really enjoying this. But I think it would be better to use the chassis as a template and have a new one made. I did that with mine. It did cost $3k but boy it saved me so much grief and I know I will never have to worry about it holding up on NZ roads.

Thank you Murray, that is a very valid point and for many that would be the best option. During this restoration I’m trying to keep as much of the original that can be saved without compromising the structure in any way. Whilst I’m a pen pusher these days, I’m a fitter and turner by trade. This is a great hobby and a way to keep my practical skills up, while hopefully passing on the skills learnt over the years. Chassis rebuild will be coming up soon 😊

It's registered as homemade. But it looks professionally done. Its a 10ft lantern, but someone has cut a side off as a dropside, which i love. Pity i can'tsend a photo.@NZCaravanRestoration
