People generally do not realise that with volonteers it's not just people who turn up and start doing stuff as you have to be sure that they can actually do the work, not just want to do the work and you are responsable for them in every way and there are insurances, and declaration of presence etc. Building outside walls in the garden is a great job as it's less risky and fun to be in nature. I watched another chateau renovation where they had a whole team of Scouts buidling a wall and it looekd great fun.

I am SOOO happy that Cahaignes ( chateau des Singes) has been purchased it was so sad to see it fall into ruin over the years. I remember the first urban exploration with the paintings still in place. It is the perfect little chateau and so well situated. Monsieur Khris seems to know what he is doing and his wife is actually an artist and can repaint the Monkeys !

Hi I've been following your adventure from your first video and I found this Q and A format very interesting because you have chosen some good questions. My adventure was an old ruin in Normandy on a fraction of your budget but I can say that I understand the passion you have to preserve something. I now live in my house because when I bought it I was thinking of the day I retire knowing I won't be getting much to live on. It is such a good feeling to have brought back life to an old structure (about 300 yrs ) and to know that when I am gone it will continue to live on. I am glad you are doing something similar with a bit of French history. I will be looking forward to the next installment of your project. Thanks Paul

The first time, Paris. The second time, I drove through country-side. About fifteen years ago, I came upon Dampierre, where there was a wonderful farm-stay as well as a town creperie. The castle and environs have especially stayed with me through the years; lovely, lonely feeling. I’m so pleased that you are enjoying the restoration of your home as well as restoring its beauty and spirit.

Have you thought about hiring a videographer to take a video of the repairs as they happen? As you gain a larger audience, the KZbin income would not only cover this expense but also create extra funds for the renovation of the chateau. Just a thought. I'm enjoying your videos.

Some 40 years ago on Costa del Sol Polish expat who had a nice villa would organize summer piano concerts for free in his garden with a world class pianists. In earlier days guests between 100-200 were even invited to dinner afterwards .It was a highlight of the season for music lovers as Malaga did not have a Symphony Orchestra back then. I'm sure that your new house will also see some terrific events in the future.

So Monument Historique is OK with the synchronized swimming aquacades I suggested in the miroir d'eau? An Esther Williams party could become the height of the social season. I could also see you recreate Botticelli's The Birth of Venus in the miroir d'eau. I think you rising from the waters as Venus would be something to remember. Chose a warm day. Shrinkage. Also, turn the generator off. Electricity and water, etc. All joking aside thank you for including us in the journey. I love the property contains several different ages of French history. Cannot wait to see the Mansart portion brought back to life and lived in.

Hello and thank you for the amazing video. I have a question. You mentioned, that renovation will cost 5m EUR. And in another video, you mentioned that you paid 695k EUR for this chateau and you paid it using a bank loan. How are you planning to cover the renovation expenses? I am asking because I am also renovating listed houses, but I am not crazy enough to buy something for which I don't have money in my pocket and I think you can inspire me to be braver for big projects :). Hicks yes makes total sense and also of course Mongiardino, what a man ! Luckilly Studio Peregalli has taken over the reigns, they did a great job on Hamish Bowles NY apartment that he just left with trompe l'oeil doors in panelling. Of course again Jacques Garcia and Champ de Bataille. What I love is how in the beginning he had lot's of fake stuff and decor that looked great and served their purpose until he could afford the real thing. He seems a really lovely man. I especially love his gardens and the Indian enclosure, I dream of visiting one day.
