I remember using an Chat GPT for a paper, I used it mostly for paraphrasing and grammar. The professor used an AI detector and got like 60%, I told them I didn't get ideas and just did it out of laziness and to make a proper paper. 30 min later I sent them another document and it showed less than 20%. What I did was just re-paraphrasing bits of the document. This also kinda proved to her that what I did was my work and that even if AI helped, I could've easily have done it without its help. Thankfully she was understanding and gave me max credit.

After a different college professor started using a plagiarism ai to check his student's work they told him e they didn't use ai. They then did a study where they ran essays written by both ai and humans. The plagiarism ai said some human written were ai, some ai were human written and some of both columns were flagged as partial ai written. Using ai to identify ai work is completely unreliable.

I remember a saying of a person about AI and a person's expectations with it. I don't remember the saying word for word nor do I remember where I found it, but it had something in the lines of "AI isn't intelligent, because it's only telling/giving us humans what we want to see/read." Emphasis on the "want" here because the same person further explained that the user, the human, probably wanted validation for his/her theory. In this case, the teacher probably had come up of an theory that the students' essays are AI generated, and with ChatGPT being notorious for making false claims and false information, it probably validated what he was thinking, thus resulting in remarking the students' in their final grade.
