ChatGPT neglected to suggest the installation of critical equipment such as a MIDI controlled coffee machine.

what’s actually the funniest thing about those answers is that the whole time I felt like I was just casually reading comments answers on a thread in an Acoustics Facebook Group 😂 nothing surprising tbh

That's funny... I was just messing with this last night. ChatGPT was helping me design Helmholz resonators. 😂

With ChatGPT being the talk of the town, I found this interesting as an exercise in interpreting what ChatGPT is. Based on question 3 and your answers between 7:30 and 8:30 (and also other places in the video), it seems evident that it claims things that are just plain wrong. I'd assume that this is based on popular opinions and not being able to weight the opinions, meaning that it's an aggregator of information, not a way to acquire correct information. Given that one may consult this to acquire information on an unknown topic, one will not be able to discern between correct or wrong information. ChatGPT seems to, at best, re-enforce popular opinions by communicating a very limited answer. 🤔 Personally, I find it troubling because, as you state multiple times, we talk about it as if it "knows" this or that. Doing a Google search is at least very clear in that there are many search results, i.e. opinions, and you have to make your own mind up.

Nice topic to discuss. I've been using chat gpt to improve my writing and get some visual references (with blue willow) to my studio designs. Around 9 minutes you said that the speaker position at 8 in of the wall is just wrong because of the SBIR. But if I place them against the wall, the SBIR still going to happen, right? You're right. This tool will hardly provide some definitive answers. But it can be more detailed on the answers if you ask for specifics. If you ask as a common person, you'll get a broad answer. If you ask in a more journalistic manner (like you provide full paragraphs of context), I'm sure that can provide more in-depth information. But i won't be using this for acoustic advices, that is for sure hahaha

It would be interesting to make a video about effectiveness, performance of acoustic materials for speaker acoustic boxes.

I know it has nothing to do with this video but no one on KZbin has made a video about mixing outside, Not in a room but literally bringing your setup outdoors.

if you have any qualms with its responses, you have the ability to teach it when it is incorrect. thankfully, it's not a human and therefore has no ego to be bruised by you pointing out its mistakes. I've done this before with it and continue to be amazed by its ability to learn from its own mistakes. Also, you can click the thumbs up or down button next to each response in order to submit feedback to OpenAI, which is especially useful if you know that it is giving incorrect information.
