The significance of the celebration underscore the victory of the maroons over the mighty British army. They were forced to sign a peace treaty and transfer of 1500 acres of land to the maroons for habitation. The bushy headgear that the maroons parade in tells an intriguing tale. In battle they disguise themselves in bushes from head to toe like trees. When the British soldiers pass, thinking they were trees , they ambush and disharm them. one of the lessons the British learnt from the maroon war is that they susequently adopt camouflage uniforms in the British army. This is a direct result of the Maroon encounter.

They need to showcase more about their artifacts and the way they live it is about their celebration. Show us more of what you are celebrating, not just about food that they are vending or everyone coming out selling things. Nothing showcasing the rich history.
