Best wishes for the coming year! I had a laugh at the reference to the Australian sparkling red. My parents had it as the 'toast wine' at their wedding in 1946, so it's not surprising that the wine has been a family celebration drink ever since. We have old black and white photos from the 50s showing bottles of Best's or Seppelt sparkling red on the Christmas table. It was called sparkling burgundy in those days. But unless you're a sparkling red diehard, I would tend to bring it out with the the food. It goes well with ham, turkey, plum pudding or the Christmas cake...well really, most things😃 I have to admit that most of my extended family are diehards. Sounds like Rick is as well😃🍷
