Swim jig when I'm trying to get in amongst the grass or reeds and need to be able to set the hook hard and jack them out of the stuff and chatterbait to concentrate on edges and less congested cover. I personally love a swim jig. So versatile. Thanks for making me feel I'm not a total idiot all the time lol

Hi Matt. Another great video. Need some advice on chatterbait. I bought one online but the hook and head of the chatterbait are connected with a split ring, so the hook is free to "wobble" in the water. Haven't used it yet, do you have any experience on this or do you always get chatterbaits whose hook is connected to the head?

I live in Louisiana. I have a couple of these swim jigs set ups, but I have never caught a fish on them so I don’t use them. Don’t really know how to use them the right way. Is it a finesse style? Do I just throw it out and start cranking?

im working on a new concept for a chatterbait. kind of want to send one to you or tell you how its made to test it out. my first prototype has just the slightest body shake, vibrates at insanely slow speeds, and almost seemed to cause itself to "deflect" and dart out of cadence and come back in on a steady retrieve. im thinking clear water with that one maybe.

I know you’re fishing in shallow, but for bank fisherman would you recommend going to a lighter weight on the jigs so they aren’t hitting the bottom as much?
@tacticalbassin8 ай бұрын
Honestly, no. I'd stick with the weight so you can get maximum distance.

I'm pretty new to the fishing world, so I apologize if this is an over asked question. When setting up your jigs or chatter baits or whatever it may be, do you tie line directly to your jigs/hooks or are you using swivels? I assume you’re tying directly to the jigs. Also.. what knot if you do? And another question (please don’t answer all if you don’t want too), when you’re adding a FC leader to your braid, what sort of knot are you tying. I’m just getting setup to start trying BFS in western Canada, and all we got here are super shy trout, so I’m going to need a pretty small leader. I planned to try Varivas braid for the main line on the spool, and then using a FC 4-8lbs leader depending on conditions. And I really have no idea how I shouldn’t connect them or what’s a strong knot for this.. everything online is a controversial keyboard warrior war over everything fishing related.
@PursuitofGameOutdoors8 ай бұрын
Tie jigs straight to the jig eye, with palomar knot. Chatterbaits have a snap that comes on them you can tie too, same palomar knot. I use FG knot for baraid to fc leader

Unfortunately for me I can not catch a bass on a chatterbait. Weirdest thing, but spinnerbaits and swim jigs are my go to baits. I do still try the chatter in case my luck turns.
@mattseifert7 ай бұрын
This was me for probably 2-3 years. I just couldn’t get bit on the chatterbait but killed with a spinnerbait. I kept at it and one day caught 27 on it. I got more comfortable using it in the right scenarios and now it’s a go-to lure for mw
@cgolf1007 ай бұрын
@@mattseifert Thanks I will keep at it. Will also watch fish position when I toss it. Chatters seem to run higher than spins, so maybe more stop and go or use it when the fish are roaming flats. If I can figure out jerkbaits, I should be able to crack this.
