Take 100 grams of chicken and lets say it has 28 grams of protein (it has typically more). You wohld have to eat 1 kilogram of brokkoli to get those 28g of protein, or 10 times (the weight).

Just for the curious people, I double fact-checked for you. Broccoli does not have more protein than steak weight wise. 100 grams of steak has 25 grams of protein. 100 grams of broccoli has 2.8 grams. Which is 11.2% of what steak has. Beans, however, are a great replacement for meat. 100 grams of beans have around 21 grams of protein, 84% of what beef has. So if you want to get swole on a vegan diet eat lots of beans! Just to clarify, yes per calory it does have more. But that's a shit ton of broccoli! To get as much protein as in a 250 gram steak (a little over half a pound), you would need to eat over 2kg (almost 5 lbs) of broccoli.

Here's why saying broccoli has more protein (per calorie) than steak is practically meaningless: Broccoli is 90% water. A serving of broccoli (one cup or 91 g) gives you 2.5 g of protein. A normal steak (~215 g) will have 49-50 g of protein. So, if you ate the same weight of broccoli, you would get 5.9 g of protein. If you wanted to get the same amount of protein from broccoli as from a 215 g steak, you would need to eat over 21 cups or 1.92 kg of broccoli. For reference, the average head of broccoli is 255 g. So, you would have to eat *7.5 entire heads* of broccoli to get the same amount of protein as a typical steak. This is why it makes little sense to compare the *per calorie* macronutrients of a food. Elephants for instance eat around 400 pounds of food a day (yes, per day) as they eat mostly vegetation which has super low caloric density.
